Hardin Poultry sold me chicks that all arrived dead in the mail. I paid over $500 for all the chicks, and I expected them to be better cared-for. I called Johnathan Stone upon arrival of the dead chicks, and he said he was sorry, and he would send me new replacement chicks. That was over 4 months ago, and I still have not received any chicks. When I call, no one answer, and they do not return my calls. Hardin Poultry stole over $500 of my hard-earned money. Beware of this farm! They are not all that they appear. Do business with a reputable seller like Greenfire Farm. Buy from Hardin Poultry if you want DEAD chicks! Buyer BEWARE!

I have been a customer of Hardin Poultry since June of this year. I have never been anything but pleased with Jonathan and the poultry farm. I visited the farm in June and was very impressed with the premises, the breeding birds, the care they receive, the incubating facilities, and Jonathan and the volunteers. Jonathan took the time to show us around and make sure we got the freshest eggs in the varieties we wanted. He went above and beyond by giving us additional eggs in those same varieties, as well as in differing varieties. He spent time with my children, telling them about the animals and the poultry farm. My daughter continues to speak of Jonathan and laugh at the funny stories he shared with us. I will be getting baby chicks within a week or so from Hardin Poultry, and as I do not care for shipping babies, Jonathan has agreed to meet me halfway to save me gas, time, and the extra trip. I do not know of a single other poultry farm that will do that, and I have dealt with quite a few. I genuinely look forward to doing business with them and seeing them again. Hardin Poultry's birds speak for themselves...some of my prettiest and healthiest birds have been from them. The breeding birds are gorgeous, healthy birds, and the babies are just the same. I have hatched chicks from fertile eggs from Hardin Poultry, and as a result, I have beautiful, healthy show/breeder quality birds in my flock. I am one of those customers that has 20 questions about 3 times per week, and Jonathan and Holly have never been the least bit cross or impatient with me. They respond to my questions and concerns in a very timely manner, and always with a kind word. I can't say enough good things about Hardin Poultry!

I have been very pleased with my dealings with Hardin's poultry. I ordered hatching eggs from them early in the Spring. I ordered 6 eggs and got 12. Instead of shipping the eggs, they hand delivered them to me since they were coming to my area. It was an hour and a half drive. I was very pleased with my eggs and my chicks that hatched. I have ordered hatching eggs through the mail from other sources and very seldom have good results. The USPS are brutal on delicate eggs and it is the fault of the shipping not the seller. I do not waist my money on shipped eggs anymore. That goes for shipping live chicks. You never know what the chicks went through after the leave the seller. It is sad, but USPS does not treat live animals with care. There is no telling what they had to endure. That being said, I do not know Jonathan that well, but was impressed that he took the time to hand deliver my eggs. I have many friends that have dealing with Hardin's Poultry and are very pleased. I personally am members of several poultry facebook pages and backyard chickens.com  and have seen these same posts with the same exact wording using different names and places of residense. I see with my own eyes that someone is trying to hurt Hardin's business. Anybody with any sense would not order more than 500 dollars worth of chicks through the mail. It sounds rather bizzare and unbelievable.

I love how Mr. Stone is so quick to point the finger at other people who are "out to gat him." A bad workman always blames his tools, and alass, a con-artist always points the finger at someone else to try to get themselves out of the spotlight.  I wasn't going to post my experiences with Hardin, until I read Mr Stones rebuttle.  I too have been conned by this man. He spent a great deal of time making his own website. You can't ever really trust someone who talks about themselves non-stop. I purchased eggs from this man, and none of them hatched. I was supposed to get replacements, but I never recieved them. I'm glad he is finally getting exposed.

#5REBUTTAL Owner of company

Mon, September 23, 2013

On Wednesday of last week a number of posts were placed on Facebook attempting to sell fertile chicken eggs to myself and others. These posts contained photographs that were stolen from friends and strangers facebook pages, ebay accounts, rare breed auction pages and google.

I reported these posts in the correct manner and the response so far has been the person writing many lies about myself and my company on facebook, backyardchickens.com and this website.

No single transaction has been carried out by my company in excess of $350 during the year of 2013. The person listed above has not purchased any chicks from myself or my company.

The person who issued the first rebuttal has also never purchased chicks from myself or my business and at no point in 2013 has this business ever offered to exchange eggs for chicks. If there was any issue with eggs we would simply replace the eggs.

Should either of the people (same person I am sure you can check the IP Address), have a receipt for a purchase on paypal from my company then I would glady accept seeing it on here and be the first to admit wrong doing, however that isn't going to happen.

The person listed above states they are from Alabama, however earlier today on a different website the exact same word for word post was from a female in Atlanta, GA.

The person also stole a picture of myself from my personal facebook and added it to the body of a chicken.

Does my company make mistakes? Of course - Does my company steal any images or money from its customers? Never.

I am going to add a number of pictures and screen shots that back up the information stated above and prove that this is a spammer/rogue, trying to slander a reputable company.

Our facebook page: www.facebook.com/hardinpoultry contains many many positive comments, along with our ebay account, rare breed auctions account and backyardchickens.com account.

#6REBUTTAL Individual responds

Sat, September 21, 2013

I'm glad that somebody finally decided to speak out against Harbin Poultry. I also had a terrible experience with this farm. I do believe that the main problem does lie with Jonathan Stone. He seems to be the "brains" behind the operation, and he can be very condescending and rude. My experience began when I purchased hatching eggs from Hardin Poultry off of Ebay. The eggs that I was sent were ALL infertile. No blastoderm what so ever. So, I emailed an asked for replacements. The next replacement batch was the same way.

When I contacted Jonathan, he said that he would send me some chicks in place of the eggs if I would pay $100 + $50 express shipping. I received all the chicks, but they turned out to be all roosters, which I find to be very coincidental. 12 rooster chicks is highly unlikely. When I emailed, I was ignored. When I called, I was ignored. So, I ended up with over $250 invested into 12 roosters. My experience with this farm left me very disappointed. This is not the way that a professional business should operate. I will never do business with them again.
