I collected  a Hertz rental car in Miami, Florida, having arrived from Europe. Driving on a road near the International airport I passed a toll area signed , No Cash accepted.

US41 8th St NW

On my return to Europe my credit card was charged by PlatePass in conjunction with Hertz a toll charge of $0.77, and an adminstration fee of $24.75.

On emailing Hertz, they replied it had nothing to do with them, they just give my credit card details automatically to PlatePass as a car renter. 

If that was true, why do they make a charge of $24.75 if it is nothing to do with them.

Researching this I have read of other drivers caught out by this toll area where you cannot pay. This is a set up to provide Hertz and PlatePass revenue.

What do they expect, that a driver should stop on a Freeway exit, and back up, to continue to a manned exit toll area???

Do not rent from Hertz unless you are prepared to have them make over a 3,000% profit on a toll booth charge it is impossible to avoid.
