Hired Homesafe in February 2010 to modify my mortgage with Chase. Was very impressed while speaking with Rory (RJ) when "shopping" around. I really felt like he "had my back." I asked him to e-mail me the paperwork to get started. I should have followed my gut when he hadn't sent me anything that day like promised, or the day after. He always had excuses but was very charming.
Needless to say, almost 10 months later it is the same story everytme I speak with them, which isn't difficult to do in itself because they often don't answer the phone, ortransfer you to someones voicemail. Generally you have to call several times to either speak to a live person or even get a return call. Frequently whomever does answer the phone does so in a very inexperienced and highly unprofessional manner asking, "Who's this?" "WHO do you want?" or you'll have to repeat your name over and over, the line gets dropped, etc.
The usual story I get is that they are waiting on my lender. The story I get from my lender is that Homesafe has only sent them the initial paperwork and on 2 occassions a signed 3rd party authorization request. That's it in TEN MONTHS.
Meanwhile, they have my $1,800. I called today and of course got VM. I am going to ask for a complete copy of their file, detailing everything they have done. In doing a little research it looks like it is illegal in NY to charge an upfront fee. My property is located in WA state however. Not sure what to do other than warn everyone else about them.
They talk the talk but do not walk the walk. Watch out for these people.
