I paid a debt to Chesapeake Women's Care that was in collections with IC Systems. BEcause I paid off Chesapeake Women's care and not the collection agency (Even though Chesapeake Women's Care gladly cashed my check.), the collections calls did not stop. It took MONTHS to get Chesapeake to notify IC Systems that it was paid off.

Now, Chesapeake is charging me interest on the account because they applied the payment as though it was made recently and not back in the fall like it was. This is now sitting on my credit report as a collections account negatively afecting my credit, and thus, my lifestyle. Thanks.

I had a $140 bill with them - 7-$20 copayments for services for my husband. He had upwards of 20 visits - I paid the doctor for all copays except those - the reason: my insurance rejected them due to slow filing on the part of the doctor. I was advised by the insurance that I was not obligated to pay. I conveyed this to the doctor. He managed to get the claims back-billed (the insurance says they don't know how and were going to look in to fraud), but again advised me that I was not obligated. He turned me in to IC Systems. I called immediately upon receipt of the first letter, lodged my complaint against the doctor, and agreed to make 7 payments of $20. I was advised by the agent to make my payments online if I wanted records, as they wouldn't send any statements or anything. I did that. I paid more than what I said I would (as the minimum for online payments is $25). They lost one of my payments which was for $30. They kept calling. They have yet to find that payment. I refused to pay it again, as I'm sure it's on someone else's account, and I can't prove it because it was made online, and I have no paper trail to back it up. It was taken out of my bank. They have never found it. Then I found out it was on my credit report, reported almost immediately. I worked in collections for 7 years. We gave people 90 days to set up a payment plan, and took lost payments seriously. I will be filing a complaint against them, and against the doctor if he will not help either, as I still believe he committed insurance fraud. I urge you to do a dispute with the credit bureau. If it gets rejected, keep filing. Also file with the attorney general in your own state, and in Minnesota. Lastly, file with the FTC, who governs collection agencies. I'm going to do the same.
