I worked for this company when it was Huffy Service First. I was paid very well, I got hourly plus commision to assemble bicycles at 2 different sporting good Stores. Later they lost those accounts. I was working at regular retail stores. I was so busy that my wife actually came to work as my assistant. I paid her $2 for every hour she worked out of my own pay check. I thought that was okay since i was assembling up to 90 nikes a day with her help. At $3.15 a bike that was good money.
I left the company when my own business I was running really took off. 5 Years later I found a job posting on the internet and applied. It was for Impact. I found out when I went for trining that they bought out Huffy. The pay was the same, commision. I was told that I would work 4-5 days a week. I had to go through the training again. I told them how far I was willing to travel and they still tried to send me farther away. When I did go over the 90 miles in a day I was only paid once for milage. They told me they tracked from zip code to zip code. This worked in their favor siince it ususally ment I went 100 miles or more and they only tracked 90. They would send me 90 miles away and I would get there and there would be no work or only $15 worth of work. When there was no work I did not get paid for anything. I report to my district manager that I arrived at a specific Target store and the store had nothing pulled to build. I would wait for 2 hours. Usually as soon as it hit 2 hours and there was nothing pulled for me to build I went home. This happened on about 15 ocassions. I was only paid twice for waiting.
When special project came up I would go to stores thinking I would get the pay rate listed in the book. Later I would find out that they lowered the rateof pay for the project and i made half of what I thought I would.
I can't even count how many times I had to call payroll and fight with them to get money that I was shorted on my check. I built everything from bicycles, to grills and furniture. It's really disappointing when you build a pool table and it takes you 9 hours and you find out your only getting paid $60. Or a peace of furniture that takes 5 hours and you get paid $12.
They were actually so stupid that they sent 6 of us to an office store to build furniture. I got to build 2 office chairs at $2.50 a piece.
They switched service coordinators and the new one kept sending to stores where the stuff was already built. Everytime I contacted my district manager he played stupid and said he'd try to me paid for showing up for no work. I never got paid.
For the summer I got laid off. I talked to the managers at some of the stores I services. They had a new guy coming in to build. The product on the shelves was unsafe and they were unhappy. I contacted my service coordinator who was new and did not care. I have not worked since May 2009. I know we lost some accounts because Target and Toys r us went in house. Why would they hire a new technician If there were already 2 in the area? I lost my position so that they could pay someone new way less. I had no problem building 50 or more bikes a day. I could build 20 grills a day. I could also knock out a furniture reset myself.
I feel sorry for the poor schmucks who can only build 1 or 2 bikes an hour. THis company is a rip off. If you work there be careful and check every pay stub to make sure you weren't shorted. They still owe me money I will probably never see since I was indefinitly furloughed ladt month.

It takes me 30 mins. to an hour to build any pool table whether it be in sears or kmart.I have assembled 128 bikes in a 14 hour period before myself with only 8 quality issues in the Jackson,Miss. Academy store. My name is Brian Tate so you can call the store for references if you doubt my ability to assemble quality products fast.I have been with Impact for going on 8 years now and do both sides of the business Merchandising with Lowe's and Assembly with all other retailers we do business with.Have done 2 full office depot furniture assembly work orders,an in home, and a revisit furniture visit all in one days time.It took me 13 hours and got 28 hours pay for my time. You were either slow as h*** or caused problems within your stores which is why you never received work due to you being slow and the store management probably did not like you either and requested your DM or Coordinator to never send you back in due to faulty assembly that may not be determined until weeks after your visit when customers started bringing all things you assembled back to the retailer. When I'm in a store and want to make money I don't stand around for 2 hours on a commission visit when I could have pulled a few items to build myself to make money while the store pulled the other for me.You didn't like money too much obviously if you wanted to waste it standing around when you weren't on an hourly but a commissioned visit. And you left after 2 hours????? talk about a dumbass. That's considered wilfull termination in any companies book. Now I see why they dropped your a*s from the schedule and the payroll roster.Good luck with whatever job is dumb enough to hire a dumbass that stands around knowing he's on commission thinking that he'll get hourly reimbursement for his time. Can you say really big dumbass or shall I say lazy a*s.They never send more than 2 techs at a time to do a furniture reset or any assembly reset in general unless it's a Lowe's overnight reset and get your lies straight. The paycheck issues you had were more than likely due to the fact that you did not report your work the same day it was completed via fax or mail for worksheets used for bikes.Causes payroll issues with the bicycle accounts and our payroll division because without the invoice they can't get you paid in a timely manner for the assembly if they don't have the invoice to key into their computer system in order for them to get paid by the bicycle accounts corporate payroll divisions to get you your owed money for the assembly. The new technician wasn't hired to do your job because all the scheduling went to an automated system that alternated which techs went to which store each day and it alternated the techs. who were closest to the stores. If you had red flags from stores complaining about your attitude and work ethics then you got furlowed from the schedule for a week without notice.Guess next time you'll try to be a better worker and do the job right whether it be an hourly or commissioned position.

9 hours to assemble a pool table? 5 hrs. to assemble a piece (not peace) of furniture? 6 techs on an assignment and you assemble 2 chairs?
I've assembled game tables, never did a pool table take 9 hrs. (maybe 3 at max.- type where felt was glued to table). Even the most involved Exec Desk or Armoire took me 2 1/2 hrs. As for multiple Tech assigments for Office Furniture, myself and another Tech would divide the pieces so it was equitable for both.
Given the time it takes (by your own admission) to assemble furniture products, and the fact that you claim 50 bike assemblies/day without mention of any quality issues, it's no wonder you were furloughed.
