Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I got my phone bill about 2 days ago. Because of my financial situation, I'm on a plan to minimize my bill, which disables me from getting and/or using certain services (i.e. caller id or call waiting). The bill usually comes to about $10.51.

Well, this month, the bill was $55 and change. I read the whole thing, and noticed that some company called Integretel was charging me $44.93. I called the # listed next to this amount and asked what the hell?!

I was told that I had consented to pay charges for some 900 #s while on-line (yes, I still use dial-up). I told them there was no way this was possible. I am the only person who uses this PC, therefore, no one else did this. I did not and would never willingly consent to pay for any 900 #, especially in light of my "less than comfortable" financial situation.

The "customer rep" was rude and curt and even told me to "shut up and stop interupting" when I was trying to explain that I would not pay for an unsolicited, not consented to charge of any dollar amount. When I called my phone company, SBC/Ameritech, and told them of this, they told me to just pay the normal monthly charges and not to pay the charges added on by "Integretel". The customer rep I spoke with at SBC was very polite, and told me there was no way in hell she'd pay those charges either.

Companies like these slimy, greedy "integretel" bastards prey off of people who figure, "oh, I must have made a mistake. It's my fault. I better pay it. Don't want to get in trouble." That is how they stay in business and continue to screw people out of thier hard-earned money, making people poorer and thier sick, corporate fat-asses richer. Well, I'm no door-mat. I aint payin'!

I also filed a complaint with the FCC. I suggest anyone else who has had a problem with this bogus bull do the same! If the FCC has a problem with Howard Stern, they sure as hell ought to have a problem with pocket-sucking companies like "Integretel".

Integretel's pukeworthy attempt to mend the situation

After filing my last repoet here @ ripoffreport.com, I followed up my complaint to the FCC with a report to the FTC, and sent an e-mail to Integretel informing them that I had made reports and filed complaints against Integretel, Inc. at all 3 places. Thier response was incredible. They sent me an email ADMITTING the following (in thier words): "This charge was incurred by someone who has access to this billed number and who downloaded and installed a small software program from the Internet to thier computer. This person then used this software dialing program to dial 900-444-0308 from thier computer... These services are billed directly to your telephone bill via this 900 number on a pay-per-minute or flat rate billing basis...We can issue a 50% adjustment to your telephone bill. Thank you for contacting Integretel. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance," I replied with a statement that I would absolutely not pay these charges, that how in the hell are they justified in thinking they're cutting me a deal by knocking 50% off a bill that I had NOTHING TO DO WITH BY THIER OWN ADMISSION?! I called SBC and explained the whole situation. They told me only to pay my regular monthly SBC charges and that they would remove the Integretel charges from my bill. I am going to send documentation of all this, including copies of my reports to the FTC, etc. to SBC, just so they can see that Integretel is using them to rip people off, and to Integretel, so they can see I mean business and will not pay for charges thta someone else incurred by hacking my computer! If you've been shammed by these jerks, there is hope. Be persistant and don't back down. Also, ripoffreport.com has been invaluable in this whole ridiculous affair. It 's good to know there are places like this that are here to protect the consumer.
