Interstate Moving and Storage DBA Goldstar Moving and Storage contacted me via E-Mail after I submitted a request for an estimate on MonsterMoving.com.

After having two other companies visit my apartment and give me written Do Not Exceed Quotes "Edna" at Interstate asked me to fax her a copy of the quotes. Interstate submitted a quote to move all my stuff for a "Guaranteed Price."

Prior to the move I was unable to get them to provide an Oorder for Service and they promised that all the required documentation would be given to me by the driver. On moving day they arrived with a truck half full with somebody elses stuff. After taking the other stuff to storage they returned and loaded the truck. When I requested the Order For Service they handed me a blank form and asked me to sign it. I filled in the agreed to price and signed it. The Driver Vitale ripped it up and refused to let me do anything else other than sign it. The same sequence of events occurred with the Binding Estimate of Cost form.

After conversations with Vitale's boss Ran I was assured that my agreed to price would be honored.

Upon arrival at destination I was informed that I had exceeded my weight estimate and I would have to pay for 8560 lbs. This despite the fact that they had promised to only charge for the 5943lbs they quoted me. I refused to pay and sent the truck away.

After being told by Ran that if I didn't pay they would take my stuff to storage and I would need to sue them to get it back I relented.

during offloading I asked for a Truck Scale weight. They gave me one done that morning. imagine my surprise when I noticed someone elses stuff on the truck. when questioned the driver admitted that he had weighed the truck with both loads on it and was charging me for the total load. I demanded that they follow me to a nearby weigh station and the truck was weighed with the remaining furniture on board. It weighed 1560lbs.

At this point I made a big mistake. Instead of calling the police I elected to sue them. unfortunately my certified mail was returned as undeliverable and Ii was unable to contact them. Recently I learned through the DOT that Ran Ohana and Interstate Moving and Storage have become Goldstar Moving and Storage. They use the same DOT#830662 and MC#368136. for twenty bucks they changed their name and started a new website. What a scam.

When did this move happen? According to my research, the DOT and MC numbers you listed have been Goldstar since 2000. As for the Binding Not-To-Exceed estimate, you were right in that the very nature of it is to make sure that is the final price. Plus, the Order of service must be filled out in full by the movers, prior to signing, according the the Rights and Responsibilities book (did they give you one of these? They have to). And great job forcing them to reweigh the load. Have you called the DOT yet? I just listed their number a few reports, you can easily find it ("here's where to complain"). Also, Goldstar's license was revoked as of March 31st of this year, since their insurance renewal was rejected. No insurance, no license. Don't back down, call everyone on the list!
