I was watching T.V. one recent Saturday morning when an infomercial came on advertising the 'HD Mirror Cam'.  This is a device that attaches to your review mirror in your vehicle, and has a camera that pivots so you can film the road in front of you, or who's sitting in the back seat!  It's a dash cam like cops have.  I thought it looked pretty cool!

They were offering it for a special price of only $49.99 (+sales tax) if you called in the next 10 minutes and then they would include a memory card/stick!  They were also waiving the shipping and handling.  They stated that by purchasing this item for your vehicle, most insurances would give you a discount.  Sounds great doesn't it???!!!

When I called the phone number given on the T.V., 1-800-709-8202 and selected the option to purchase one it was an all automated system.  You can't talk to a live person!  It asked if I would like to purchase a memory card/stick for an additional $14.99.  I thought no because it suppose to be included in the deal for free!  But, since you can't talk to a real person I clicked okay since you have to have one to watch any of your video film!  Then it asks if I'd like to purchase a 2 year warranty for an additional $1.99.  I thought for $1.99, it's better to be safe than sorry.  Then it goes through trying to get you to purchase more.....it never gives an option to go straight to check out, and it never gives you a total amount at the end!  It did ask for my email address so they could send me an order confirmation, which I never received.

I checked my credit card statement today and it showed a pending transaction from HD Mirror Cam for $143.50!  I immediately tried calling the company.  I called the same phone number given on T.V.: 1-800-709-8202.  If you call and try and get customer service they will tell you to go to: www.searchorderstatus.com.   Well I went there and that was useless.  I put in my phone number and it gave me zilch!  I called the number again and got another phone number: 973-531-4421 for customer service.  Well I called that number and after being on hold for over 20 minutes it sounded like someone picked up the phone but didn't speak....after saying "hello" for another 10 minutes I just hung up.  I looked up www.hdmirrorcam.com and clicked on contact and got another phone number: 323-375-1042.  I called and sat on hold for another 20+ minutes and was about to hang up when a woman with a strong accent said hello.  It was very hard to hear her due to lots of static and noise in the background as if I was on a speaker phone.  I asked her where her call center was located and she replied, New Jersey.  I really suspect she was in the Phillipines.  I asked her why they were trying to charge me $143.50 and she said I purchased 2 of everything!  I told her that I didn't purchase 2of anything and that their automated system wouldn't allow me to talk with a real person. and never gave me a total or the option to cancel once they had my credit card number!

After much going back and forth with her, threatening to report them to the 'Better Business Bureau', etc., she gave me a cancelation confirmation number.  I asked her to send me an email of the confirmation of my cancelation ASAP, which she said it would take her approximately 20 minutes to get it to me.  Well it's now been way over an hour and still no email confirmation received.  

Buyer beware!  I'm sure there is such a long wait to talk to their customer service due to the vast amounts of complaints they are receiving.  I have purchased old movies from T.V. infomercials from 'Time Life' and have never had a problem, and always was able to talk to a real person.  I have a feeling if I ever did receive the merchandise from Inventel, it would be faulty, and almost impossible to return..... and forget the customer service!
