Introduction: I attended ITT-Technical Institute of Cordova, TN from 07/2005 - 11/2006 Majoring in AutoCADD

My experience: In the time that I attended this school, I recieved no education in my career choice. After attending this school for a year and a half, working 2 jobs and driving 45 minutes one way 3 times a week I was left with absolutely nothing but a HUGE loan over my head and no way to pay it. Getting good grades, doing my best in every course assigned to me, I began to wonder when I would actually start taking classes that dealt with the major that I originally signed up for (AutoCADD) so after a year and a half at this school I went to the financing department to speak to someone about my classes.

That's when I found out that someone messed up BIG time on my paperwork and had me signed up for ISS and not AutoCADD. We went back and looked at my original paperwork where it clearly stated that I was signing up for AutoCADD and not ISS. Talk about a huge mess up with paperwork. The only thing they offered to fix the problem was I could start over with my original program and just keep the other credits as if they were a gift. Well considering I was already attending this school for a year and half at this point, working two jobs, doing my best and gas prices steadily going up.

I could not afford to keep attending for another 2years. I declined their offer and asked that they pay back the loan for the classes that had absolutely nothing to do with the program I had originally signed up for. I agreed on my own terms to pay for the laptop, books and classes that dealt with AutoCADD. The guy I spoke with in the financial department assured me he would do his best and give me a call as soon as he found out what he could do. A couple weeks went by and no phone call came, so I took it upon myself to give him a call and check on things. All I got was a round-about answer every time. I went up to the school to speak to this man in person, the lady at the front desk told me he wasn't there that day, but as I went to leave, that was proven wrong.

I asked to speak to the super-intendent, again was told he wasn't there. Basically nobody was there to help me at this point. You can say I was ingnorant to the whole college or technical school process, I was fresh out of high school and took the classes I was assinged doing the best I could do to better myself. I did ask myself from time to time when I would start taking courses that dealt with AutoCADD but hey I signed a loan for over $30,000 it never crossed my mind that they could make such a ingnorant mistake like that.

I later contacted the Tennessee Higher Education Committee to seek help and luckily the guy in Nashville took sympathy to my situation and agreed to help the best he could. Long story short all he could do was get them to reimburse the tuition ($1,500 of the $30,000+ that I owe)

I have contacted lawyers who want ridiculous amounts of money up front with no gaurantee that anything will be resolved. Contacted the BBB with no help.

From my experience, listen to my story and everyone elses, DON'T GO TO ITT-TECH. Go to a community college instead, less than half the price and better education opportunities.
