Itt Technical Institute I am now 40,000 dollars in debt with no degree and no new knowledge whatsoever! Arnold Missouri
I was looking in to several schools in the St. Louis area. I was interested in structural design and drafting. I went to a couple other schools and there were several things that I would have needed to do before being anywhere close to enrolling. When I got to Itt Tech I met with a "recruiter," I like to call him a car salesman. He was formerly a Navy Recruiter. He knew exactly what to say to get me. I didn't have to do anything except sign here, here, and here. I was enrolled for classes the next week.
I have tried reaching this recruiter and have been told that he no longer works there, they could not tell me why. I attended classes and at first everything seemed fine. I had about 1 1/2 hour drive one way. Which I was willing to do for an education. Once I got further and further into the quarter I started to get a little thrown off. There were several times that I missed classes because of work or other things. Living that far away it didn't take much to not be able to make a 3 hour round trip. Some of these classes that I took literally taught me less than the most very basic high school courses. The work was easy but I'll be honest, there were several assignments that I just plain did not do. Yet I somehow still managed to get A's and B's.
The biggest complaint that I have with Itt is just the worst of MANY. I have 6 student loans that I have to start paying on next month and of those I remember signing NONE OF THEM! I know of only a couple times that I signed for student loans. I didn't even complete one whole year at that school and somehow am still in almost 40,000 DOLLARS IN DEBT! No one at that school is interested in the well being or education of any student and they should be shut down. They are there to PROFIT (which they do on a large scale) bottom line.
Is there ANYTHING I can do?! I'm completely lost and my credit will be RUINED cause I cannot afford these loans, not even close.

A Class at ITT costs you about $1,760.00. Lets say that mist ITT campuses have 400 Students like the one that I went to. This means that they make $704,000 every semester, at every school. Now, lets say that i'm a moron and I only assumed that there is 400 students per school. Lets say there are 500. Then that # goes up to $880,000. So let's go with $770,000. After all their bills are paid, and after the teachers are paid they probably have around half left. What do they do with that money? Who knows!!! The Education is not worth is whatsoever though, so they are in it JUST for the money. The teachers prob are not, but they cannot change the way the school works. I habe had counteless teachers say "why do they use this book, it's so outdated", or "you will never have to use this infomation, why is this in the book"? AS far as the loans, it is horrible. I have seen interest rates as high as 25%. The simple fact of the matter is this, the Education that you will get at ITT is not worth 45,000 dollars. It is even not worth 10,000 dollars. But they still tell people they will make 60 grand a year. Nobody out of ITT Tech will ever make that much. But, most people out of ITT Tech will have a 500 payment every month for going to that school. Do yourself a favor, stay the hell out of their "Sales Office" and you won't have the smae problem we do now. As for the person who filed this complaint. Check on this site to see about a class action lawsuit. Maybe someone will take the case. AAnd please, please, tel the truth on your exit interview. If you lie, and say that everything was good, noone will believe you!
