I had the most horrible time dealing with J.B.A. Chevrolet/Mitsubishi in Glen Burnie, Maryland which is located right off of Route 2 (Ritchie Highway), and it seems as though the trouble is not over yet.
I traded in my 2002 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 for a new, 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt. When I first entered the store, on a Friday evening around 8:15pm, I was not greeted at all. I had to find someone wandering around to help me out, and they treated me as if I was a little kid buying my first car. I was not offered a test drive, or an overall view of the car. My warranty was not explained to me, and I felt very rushed. After the sales representative tried to tell me that I was going to trade in my Trans Am and still OWE $2,500 on this Cobalt, I nearly lost it. A Trans Am, for a Cobalt? Where does this even out? It doesn't. I should've walked with a Cobalt and $3,000 in my pocket(Trans Am was paid off).
I asked about the SS Cobalt, and was told it wouldn't arrive until late August (it was May 3rd when I bought the Cobalt), and I saw the new SS Cobalt's on the lot, a week and a half later. Lie number one.
I went back to J.B.A. on Monday, May 6th, at 11am and tried to get back my car. There is a Maryland Law stating that you have a 3 day return period when you purchase a car, and I was denied that. I called my insurance company, and they spoke with the Manager, a man by the name of Jim. I was told that there was no such law by Jim, when in fact, there is. I asked for a written denial of the return of the Cobalt, and was refused that. (I wonder why!) I bought the Cobalt for an even trade, for $17,800, when Cobalt's are only $12,500-$13,000. I was told $17,800 (even trade... Trans Am for a Cobalt) was the cheapest he would go.
I asked for the whereabouts of my Trans Am, and was told it was sent to a "wholesaler", even though it was at the back of the lot, in plain view. I asked if I could even BUY IT BACK, and I was told "No." Lie number two.
As for performance, the Cobalt already needs to go in for service. It is the WORST vehicle I have EVER purchased. There is an electrical problem, and has been since I bought it. The car backfires, and randomly pops out of gear when it feels like it. So, on a side note, anyone thinking about purchasing a Cobalt, DO NOT DO IT. It will be the worst mistake you have ever made.
I do NOT recommend J.B.A. Chevrolet/Mitsubishi to ANYONE.
Extreme ripoff!
