JDT Roofing Jeff Conway Ripoff, Scam, Review West Kelowna BC
Jeff came to my house and offered me a quote that seemed quite reasonable. He explained in detail the job he was going to do and all of the extras he was going to provide to me such as: caps, roof underlayment, proper valleys, etc. He asked for 30% of the money up front to cover the cost of material. Again this seamed like a reasonable request. I asked around to see if anyone had hired him before that I knew. No one had. So I just had to trust him. He is a good talker and talked both me and my husband into thinking that he was the right man for the job. Boy was I wrong. Here is what happened.
The job started over a month late. And then he would come one day and then not come back for 2 or 3 days. In one instance he didn't come back for a week. This became quite frustrating. But he had a million different excuses.
Also, he said he would be doing a lot of the roofing himself. He did not. He spent a total of 2 hours on the roof during the entire project.
During the course of the project, he would continuously ask me for more money. It became quite evident that he did not buy my roofing materials with the money I had provided him with. I believe this is one of the reasons why he kept vanishing for days, as he probably didn't have any access to money to actually buy more materials.
In addition, each day they actually worked, his crew (which varied in personel from day to day) would leave 100's of nails throught my yard. I have two small children and I was very concerned about this. He assured me he would clean it up the next day and that it wouldn't happen again. However, he rarley showed up two days in a row, so me and my husband would spend the morning before the kids went off to school cleaning up his crews mess.
At the end of the day, he did not put the valleys in properly, he took six weeks to finish the project, he left a huge mess on the last day, he ended up charging me more than originally quoted and told me that the quote was just an estimate.
Lastly...and most importantly, I have had the roof for less than 3 months and some of the shingles are already visibly buckling.
Bottom line. Don't trust Jeff / JDT Roofing in West Kelowna / Westbank, as he will not deliver as promise.

Jeff Conway is now operating under a different company name, but pulling the same scam. He is in Nanoose just north of Nanaimo doing jobs in Nanaimo, Parksville and Qualicum. He asks for money up front and then never delivers claiming he needs more money to get started. And good luck trying to get the money back. He never finished the job which may be a good thing.
Reputable roofing companies will not ask for money up front, they want the money upon completion. The companies the reputable roofers deal with for supplies know their reputation and work with them.
Don't hire him. He's a smooth talker and always has excuses as to why he's late including some fake sob stories.
