I have a lot of friends who work in restaurants so I know what is going on there. Restaurants that pay low and treat their employees like (expletive deleted) are NOT aware that the employees return as good as they get --WITH INTEREST! Besides stealing restaurant supplies for their own consumption and to resell to various COMPETITION restaurants, the CUSTOMER also PAY$ and that is apparently what happened to you. Be glad you didn't give the server your credit card. There is a very popular device that looks like a blackboard eraser only much smaller and when you hand over your credit card to your server or your congenial barkeep, they will not only swipe it in the credit card machine but they will swipe it in the smaller, unauthorized credit card machine. It captures your credit card number and everything else about you that is on that credit card tape. When they have a full machine, they can turn it over to someone who will either pay them big bucks for it or they will have a friend print out all the information and either sell, exchange it for something else --like maybe drugs or expensive booze stolen from another restaurant OR they will use your credit card number to purchase all sorts of presents for themselves and their friends. They really like for you to be drunk when they do this and will sometimes slip some chemical alchol of their own into your drink to get you drunker. That's when they will swipe your card on their own machine, especially if you are too drunk to remember the details...and you are out with friends and you appear to be treating your friends. If you haven't gotten your credit card statement lately, could be it was rerouted to an empty house or an apartment where all the stuff was delivered and YOUR CREDIT RATING IS IN TROUBLE BIG TIME! Maybe you even bought some ammuition or weapons or prohibited substances for terrorists and dont' know it until the federal authorities come knocking at your door... What that server guy did was common and highly illegal. It is called THEFT. I hope you have the sort of credit card company that will let you DISPUTE the charges! and not pay until they get at the bottom of the matter... WHEN I GO INTO A RESTAURANT THESE DAYS, I DO NOT GO UNLESS I HAVE AT LEAST $100 CASH ON ME. AND I WATCH THE CASHIER LIKE A HAWK AND ONLY TIP THE SERVERS WHO HAVE BEEN COURTEOUS AND EFFICIENT! (And a little more if I ask them a favor like to get me a to-go container or a doggie bag or I might buy a dessert since they get a percent of every food item that they "sell" these days. CASH IS STILL KING. IT IS PRIVATE. IT IS DISCRETE. IT OPENS MANY DOORS. IT SHUTS MANY MOUTHS AND YOU USUALLY GET A DISCOUNT WHEN YOU USE IT! i like cash!
