Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I have worked at this Jimmy John's as a source of income while attending classes at the University of Colorado. I was tempted to not take a fast food job at  first, but I decided to try the "Freaky Fast Life." On the very first day, I was excited because it was a new experience and I met some really awesome people. I was an In-Shop worker. I soon regreted it.

After the first week, I was being treated like s**t! Having recieved no training at all, co-workers were complaining how slow I was at making and wrapping sandwhiches. I was not given a sandwhich test before I was hired, so I had to learn the sandwhiches on top of my semester course load! The next thing you know, I was being sent home an hour or two early just because the managers never trained me in the first place! After being sent home early for two weeks, I decided to take a stand and ask why? "Because you keep f****** up!" After expaining that I nvever recieved the proper training, they treatend to fire me and stop being an idiot.

Now we move on to other employees. This place is constantly busy with deliveries during lunch exicution! Most of the drivers use bikes to deliver sandwhiches, so I understand that it takes a little longer than a car. However, this one manager doesn't get it. He complains "Why are you so f***** slow? I've got 10 orders due 10 minutes ago!" These drivers are treated like s**t making much less than in-shop per hour working as hard and as fast as they can to get those sandwhiches out. Other in-shop workers do not get treated like s**t, just me.

Now we move on to the funny part. This part has three sections. #1: One of the managers who used to work there, I did not have a problem with. I hang out with him/her often, and it surprised me how nice that manager was outside of Jimmy John's! I asked why do you feel so angery and pissed at work? he/she replied that it is the General Manager/Owner. I finaly understood. For one day, I had to open the store as a Person in Charge or PIC. I couldn't belive what a d**k the owner was. He does nothing except complain about how we are doing and bithcing about how sales are going down. He pretty much did nothing but talk the whole time I was doing morning prep. In addition, he also decided to stay for a little bit of the lunch exicution. I don't mind, it is your store after all! Well, aparently he doesn't like the delivery drivers! He rips it on them constantly about taking only one order at a time, when they are going to the same place! And you wonder why it is taking so long for orders to get out?! I also felt really bad for ripping it on a new guy that day. But I did apologize before his shift ended. I finally got it, you get treated like s**t from the managers because they get treated worse from the GM/Owner.

#2: One of the things that annoys both the employees at this store and the one on 13th is how things are falling apart at this store. We constantly had to call the other store to ring up a credit card or a gift card because the machines don't really work here anymore. Having known the crap they get too, (The GM owns both stores) the get frustrated with us becuase we have to waste their time with our faults. And the GM complains why in-shop workers are slow? Becuase we have to waste half our shift talking on the damm phone!

#3: Although this is not really a concern with the owner or management, most of the in-shop workers are criminals. The Boulder County probation officers place thesse people to work at this jimmy john's store until they are off of probation. While I never had a problem with any one of them, it does make the place a little unsecure because who knows why the landed in jail. I think this store needs to follow a backround check like most other jimmy johns.

Don't get me wrong, Jimmy John's is a cool place to work where you only have to memorize 24-25 sandwhiches and flexable hours. (Really 18 if you don't count the slims.) It is easy to move up to a senior worker and manager, but really isn't a place where you would want to invest a career in. Jimmy John's is more of a resume builder than anything else.

So where am I know? Heh, I'm still working at Jimmy John's but in Northern Colorado and Southern Wyoming. I have been re-trained correctly but it will be awhile before I can keep up with them. The owner will not let me go fast until I have mastered it. Only then will he let me work with the fast guys on the front line! Smart move I think. Might I also add that both of these owners are aware of the s**t they pull at Boulder? That is just soo sad.

So to sum this up, Jimmy John's is a cool place to work but you will be treated like s*** at either one of the Boulder stores. If you are looking for a job at Jimmy John's avoid the name Sublingers!
