Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I fell for the John Beck Mentoring of America Scam, and after having been charged almost 7,000 dollars on my credit card, and being told that the debt will pay for itself in the first 30 days...I am left to wonder if it will EVER be paid off.

I was assured that part of the price of the package was that John Beck would make my company "Incorporated" so that the balance of my credit card could be transferred over to a business credit card in my company's name so that I would not be personally liable.

Well, lo and behold, I am several months in the project, and I have attempted to contact Mr. Devery Snow of the John Beck program and speak to him about what he promised me and I have left a dozen messages for him and he refuses to call back. I was told by my coach that I would have to contact the "tax club" to get my incorporation. Well, unfortunately, that's another 1,500 dollars!! I was shocked, because when I started asking questions about the discrepancies, they all pointed the finger at one another and said that they "know nothing about any of that." My next step is to call the customer service line and just ask for my money back but I get the feeling from reading these posts that that's just not going to happen.

I in fact did sign and return the enrollment confirmation letter at the time of recieving the package. I would like my money back at this point, my coach isn't really telling me anything that is not already in the booklets that we originally purchased for the 39.99 dollars. If anyone out there has any advice about getting my money back, please let me know, this is just wrong!

Start up kit

I think that Mentoring of America cannot give you a refund for the start up kit. For that, I think you need to go after Beck in California.

What to do with the "Refund Agreement..."

#5Author of original report

Fri, September 01, 2006

Thanx for you kind words all who wrote in. As far as the questions about the "Refund Agreement," I read the agreement over meticulously and instead of signing it, I wrote in black magic marker "NO NO NO NO NO" all along the line where my signature was to be. I then attached a letter DEMANDING my money back. My letter basically said that they would not be getting anything back until I got my money back. Not only did I demand the $6,499.00 back, but the original 54.99 they charged me for the start up kit. I told them that when I received the total of $6553.99 back, in the form of a CHECK made out to me or my wife, then they would get the materials back, to include the start up kit. I then told them that they had until August 31st to respond or "further legal action would be taken." (Whatever that means!) In the meantime, Investigator Al from Utah consumer Protection, called me and asked me if I got the offer. I advised him of my concerns and told him what I had done, and he said that regardless, my refund would be coming and suggested that I send the material back to Mentoring of America. I DID NOT sign the refund agreement and I started packing up the opened and UNopened material to be sent back. On the very day I packaged them up and sent them off to the post office, I just happened to get my monthly statement from my credit card which indicated that the refund came about a week prior so to tell you the truth, it didn't matter that I sent the stuff back or not, I got the refund. My only issue was that I didn't get the refund in the form of a check as I had demanded and they didn't refund the 54.99 for the startup kit. I am going to write them another letter demanding the 54.99 for the start up kit, because I actually sent that stuff back to them. But to be honest, I'll chalk the 54.99 up to a learning experience if push comes to shove. By the way, I have already been helping others by passing on my experiences to others on this website and other websites where there are similar situations with victims who have no idea what to do to get their money back. Any other questions, let me know, I'm not going anywhere. I'll be happy to help others as best as I can. Talk to you all soon. Jeff

Jeff, I'm very happy for you. It gives me great personal satisfaction to hear that my suggestions contributed to a $6,499 Mentoring of America refund that might have otherwise gone undelivered. Jeff, you don't need to thank me for serving. You were serving in the military and was overseas during the time I was still in H.S. 1995-1999. I simply shared my personal story to illustrate that these people (John Beck and Mentoring of America) care nothing about you or who you are. They are only after your money and credit card number. I just ask that if your time allows it, you might assist me in helping others on this site achieve the same thing now that you too have gone through this process of a refund and have now aquired that knowledge and that know-how, that so many other people come to this site everyday so desperately looking for, in regards to refunds from Mentoring of America LLC. Both of us know that feeling the first time we visited this site hoping that someone would have the answer. That someone here would be able to tell us exactly what to do, and how to recover our thousands of dollars lost to Mentoring of America LLC. It feels great getting our money back, but it feels even better helping others do the same successfully. There will be many more refunds given out if people will just follow our footsteps. Make it a great day everyone.

It pleases me to see someone with the same refund agreement as me, get their refund. I've sent back the materials, they should arrive shortly. I haven't signed or sent back the refund agreement yet. In your last post you did not mention whether or not you modified or signed their refund agreement. Please let me know the details. It would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Jeff you wrote "I can't believe that these "leeches" would take advantage of anyone, let alone a Disabled Veteran!" Jeff I know it is hard to understand sometimes the kind of people that are part of these scams, they are all sociopaths. That is the one common thread that Beck, Trudeau, Dalby and the rest have is that they have no conscience. They don't care if you are on your death bed and it is your last dollar to save your life, it only matters to them that the money goes into their bank account. All we can do is to keep spreading the word and keep people from falling into their trap. I am really happy you got your money back, I read your post and you are one hell of a guy.

REDEMPTION HAS COME!!!!!

#10Consumer Suggestion

Mon, August 28, 2006

I received my full refund as of the other day. I had recieved a refund agreement from Mentoring of America indicating that in order to get the full refund, I needed to give back all material that was unopened and that they would not refund me for anything that was opened. Investigator Al from the Utah Department of Consumer Affairs also suggested I send the material in to them wihtout worries about not getting the full refund. Lo and behold, I checked my credit card statement and there was the full $6,499.00 credit to my account. Listen to what people on this site are telling you about getting your money back because they know what they are talking about. "Anonymous in Southern California..." I don't even know what to say to you brother! Nothing I could say would be enough to thank you. I served in the Army for four years back from 1995-1999 and I am proud to have served even though I did not go to an active combat zone. i did serve in Korea as a hardship one year tour away from my wife and child, which ultimatley cost me my marriage. I am very proud of you for your service to our country and I can't believe that these "leeches" would take advantage of anyone, let alone a Disabled Veteran! Thank you so much for giving your heart and soul for MY freedom and the freedom of the rest of the country. I salute you and thank you not only for your personal sacrifice, but for your help with this matter as well. J.R.

Here is why this is such a big deal to me.

#11Consumer Suggestion

Sat, August 26, 2006

Remember to come back here after you get your money back and let us know about it. The same goes to anyone else who has read any of my comments and suggestions, and have received refund agreements or refunds from Mentoring of America because of them. WHY THIS SCHEME IS SUCH A BIG DEAL TO ME: My personal goal is to exceed the $7,000 mark in refund ammounts from Mentoring of America. Refunds that I may have personally helped to contribute towards, by directly assisting people like youself on this site with complaint forms and suggestions, ect. Refunds that would have otherwise gone undelivered by Mentoring of America, and people left out thousands of dollars. Why $7,000? Because that's the dollar ammount that John Beck and Mentoring of America cheated me out of by the use of fake money back guarantee and other lies to get my credit card number. This would give me more closure even though I already go all my money back. SO WHY IS THIS SUCH A BIG DEAL TO ME ANYWAY? Well, because I am a disabled veteran of the war in Iraq. I had just returned home from completing a 4 year term in the Marine Corps, and a combat tour in Iraq 2003 at the start of the war were I was seriously injured. I had just received a lump sum veteran's disability payment form the VA after coming back home. This was right about the same time that the lowly JAYDER SALAZAR from the offices of John Beck called me out of no where. He basically cheated me out of my hard earned disability pay with a fake money back guarantee and other lies. Unknown to me at the time, JAYDER SALAZAR based the price of this garbage course soley on the dollar ammount of my recent disability compensation payment I had just receive. And he knew what this money was from. THAT'S WHY. It's the principal behind it. I almost lost my life out there when I got hurt. And this money was compensation to me for my bodily injuries. Only for the lowly JAYDER SALAZAR and the people at Mentoring of America to cheat me out of it, and then refuse to give it back under any circumstances. I'm glad to have gotten it all back after taking action againts them, but that's almost not enough. Seeing more people get their back will be more gratifying to me. And that's really what I want to see.

The latest news on my situation... Thanx to all those who have been responding to my posting and giving me advice

#12Author of original report

Fri, August 25, 2006

I got a call the other day from Al (Ao Paugo) from the Utah Division of Conusmer Protection asking if I had received a refund agreement. I had in fact already received the packet. I too saw that there were discrepancies with the agreement. The trademark comment about Mentoring of America basically saying that by giving the refund in no way are they admitting they did not provide the services and blah blah blah. Investigator Al didn't seem concerned about this and actually advised me to return the materials to them right away opened or unopened, and that if Mentoring of America didn't give me the full refund or tried coming after me with a collection agency, that they would be in more jeopardy than they already are. In fact, he said it would be easier for his agency to take action against Mentoring of America if that happened. Bottom line is he told me not to worry about what they say in the Refund AGreement letter. He didn't say whether or not I should sign it but suggested I simply write Mentoring of America a letter explaining my concerns along with the returned materials, and that Mentoring of America would be obligated to refund me in full. That Al guy over at the Utah Division of Consumer Protection is a pretty good guy! Thanx to all those who have been responding to my posting and giving me advice along the way, I wouldn't have known what to do if it wasnt' for all of the people that have posted on this website and others. Thanx especially to "anonymous" from Southern California. Good work! J.R.

I spoke to a local attorney about this refund agreement deal. Here's what he said to do.

#13Consumer Suggestion

Tue, August 22, 2006

I spoke with a local attorney about this refund agreement deal. I explained the situation to him and what it said in these refund agreements. He told me that since it's impossible for you to have NOT opened the materials, to just go ahead and cross out the word "Unopened" where it mentions returning "Unopened" Items, so that it reads just "Items". He also told me to cross out the clause that states "Any changes to this form render it null and void". Since the refund agreement has already been signed by HENRY BRAZIL and KASI MINTER (Mentoring of America) just sign it also. Also include a hand written letter from yourself stating that it's obvious that you had to open the materials to view what the program was about. Therefore it's impossible for you to return any "Unopened" items, and that the refund agreement as it was, was of no use to you. I forgot to ask him if you should also cross out the clause that says "By issuing this refund, Mentoring of America is in no way stating that these monies are not owed nor that the services were not rendered as promised". I am assuming you can also just cross that out too. Remeber, make copies and put a tracking/confirmation number when you mail it back to Mentoring of America. I hope this helps.

Jeff, Don't sign that refund agreement just yet. Call the Utah Investigator about it first at 801-530-6601

#14Consumer Suggestion

Fri, August 18, 2006

Jeff, The unreadble chicken scratch signatures on that refund agreement are HENRY BRAZIL(Customer Service Manager and KASI MINTER (Supervisor). Do NOT call Mentoting of America about it. They will lie to you to get you to sign something you probably should not. One of their supervisors flat out lied to me to get me to sign a refund agreement that wanted to credit my already closed and non existent bank account. I got it recorded on tape. The refund agreement I got did not mention anything about me having to return any materials back to them. They wanted to credit back my closed bank account. I made them send me a hand signed check in the mail instead. There is a clause on the Agreement that states: "By issuing this refund, Mentoring of America is in no way stating that the monies are not owed nor that the services were not rendered as promised". My strong belief is that this clause is there by design to set them up so that they can follow up with you using their fraud collecion agency called EPN to contact you and try to collect back the money when you get a refund. Money that is rightfully yours. They will threaten to ruin your credit if you don't pay it back from what I've read from others on this site about EPN. I strongly advise that you call the Utah Divison of Consumer Protection (801-530-6601) and speak with investigator Ao Pauga or who ever else is handling Mentoring of America. Tell them about the refund agreement, your concern about them wanting back only unopened items (which they know you had to open), the EPN collection agency, and the misleading clause on the agreement. I got Mentoring of America to send me a hand signed refund check in the mail instead. Speak with the Utah investigator, and ask him about it before you sign anything. If the investigator tells you to go ahead and sign it, make SURE you place a tracking or confirmation number on it when you send it back to Mentoring of America. Go online to the shipping company's website and print out the delivery confirmation page when it shows delivered to them. Keep a record of it, so if they claim that they never receive your signed refund agreement, you have proof that they did and can turn that over to the Utah invesigators. Also, if your credit card/bank account that you used at that time is already CLOSED, DON'T sign the refund agreement. Read the most recent complaints on Mentoring of America and see my suggestion about what to do if you already closed your account, and the agreement wants to credit that closed account. By the way, if you look on the envelope where your refund agreement came, you will see a contact phone number above Mentoring of America's return address. It's almost certainly a fake phone number. Mentoring of America had the audacity to list a fake telephone number on both their envelopes to me. One was to a Chevron gas station somewhere in Utah, and the other envelope with my check was to a number that gave you a screeching fax machine noise when you call it.

Question for Refund

#15Consumer Suggestion

Thu, August 17, 2006

Recently I received a "Refund Agreement" from Mentoring of America. Comically, it didn't even have offical letterhead. It looked like it had been printed up from Microsoft Word and had no official aura about it! It was signed by two people, one signature block just said "Customer Service Manager" and the other said "Supervisor." There were not typed names on the signatures which is customary and professional with business letters. Funny thing is, the signatures on there were not legible. I was immediately suspcious. They also want all the material back that they sent me UNOPENED! Now how the hell is that possible? That's like going to the store, buying something and opening it up when you get home only to find you are unhappy with it, and it's not what you ordered. Then when you bring it back, they say, "You opened it, not exchange or refund, sorry!" I'm not buying it! They said they would only refund me what is unopened. Well, about half the stuff was opened. I typed up a letter of my own demanding my FULL refund to include the initial start up package which all in all totals $6553.45. Any thoughts of this recent tactic by John Beck's Mentoring of America? Let me know, thanx. Jay-Are.

The guy who coerced me into this garbage, JAYDER SALAZAR just dissapeared.

#16Consumer Suggestion

Thu, August 10, 2006

The guy who coerced me called himself JAYDER SALAZAR. It would not surprise me if that was just a fake name that he used, so that I could not contact him again because no one would know that name. Upon enrolling, he gave me a phone number and extention for me to call him back after about a month or so into the program, to keep in touch, ect. At first the phone number worked, but he never answered it no matter what time I called. Well, I tried to call the number he gave me again, and it's no longer in service. I wanted to have a few words with him now that I've got my money back, but I guess that's not going to happen now. At this point, just periodically keep in contact with the investigator at the Utah Division of Consumer Protection who has your form. They never called me or kept me up to date on anything, or even returned my calls to be honest with you. Probably too busy. I just woke up one day shortly after my complaint form was mailed out, to pleasantly find that FedEx left me an envelope from Mentoring of America LLC. It was my refund. Mr. Ao Pauga sent Mentoring of America a letter when he received my complaint form in the mail. Mentoring of America then gave me my money back, after their poeple denied me a refund like they just did you. File additional complaints against Mentoring of America with other agencies also.

I took the first step...what can I expect

#17Consumer Suggestion

Wed, August 09, 2006

I have filed a complaint form with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection on the matter and I spoke with the Investigator. (I believe his name is "Al.") Nice guy but certainly made no promises. He almost seemed annoyed that he was getting another complaint about the mentoring of america people. I then tried calling Customer Service for John Beck and called the number right on the bottom of the package confirmation letter they sent me and come to find out, the number wasn't even for John Beck! It was for John Anderson, which is a similar "hoax-ter" about the real estate industry. Comically, I was transferred about 15 times to different people, none of whom could help me. All I was asking was to speak with Mr. Devery Snow, who I originally spoke with back when I purchased the program, and no on knew who he was! This guy is supposed to be the "National Director" for John Beck's Mentoring of America program! I finally located a telephone number that Mr. Snow had given me way back when I spoke with him (which, I might add is not on any other peice of paper I received as part of the program.) and called him. I've left about 13 messages with him to call me back over the last few weeks to no avail. He just wont call me back. Finally last night I left him a "nasty gram" on his voicemail. Then emailed my coach and told him that everything was "on hold" until further notice. Then tonight I called customer service and asked for refund, they transferred me about 12 times and the line went dead! I laughed my butt off. Of course I called back and got much of the same. I demanded my money back as professionally as possible, and they told me I would not get my money back, no way, no how! I just said, "we'll see about that" and hung up. I just can't believe these people. Do they actually think that they can take 6500 dollars from people, give them nothing that they promised in return, and then expect them to NOT ask for the money back? I mean, eventually they've got to realize that they screwed up right? It's actually not even frustrating to me anymore, it's more like a disbeleiving laugh! My coach just emailed me back and was so polite, because I emailed him my concerns about the tax club, and Mr. Snow's reluctance to call me back. He replied and is being so nice it's funny. He's saying, "Oh, gosh, thank you so much for bringing this to our attention, I've been researching your concerns for you all day, and why dont you just call me and I'll explain more in detail personally over the phone to you." (Well, he already knows that I need his permission to record the call because in our coaching sessions, I"ve asked him over the phone if it was OK to record the conversation.) I'll be now he wont give me the OK and he'll just want to try to smooth talk me off the record and try feeding me some B.S. excuse. I'm not even going to bother calling him back. Im going to demand an explaination in the form of Email so that I can print whatever he tells me up and I'll have written proof of his explaination. Then I'll forward it to the Utah Consumer Protection Investigator. Bottom line, I don't like the smell of any of this! Stand by...more to come....J.R.

Government Action Taken So Far Against Mentoring of America

#18Consumer Suggestion

Tue, August 08, 2006

Government Actions against Mentoring of America On October 21, 2004 Mentoring of America, LLC entered into a settlement agreement with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection (the Division). According to the terms of the agreement, Mentoring of America, LLC agreed to pay a fine of $2,000 and comply with all provisions of the Consumer Sales Practices Act and the Telephone Fraud Prevention Act in future consumer transactions in the state of Utah. Mentoring of America, LLC also agreed that within 30 days it would submit a completed application for telemarketing under the Telephone Fraud Prevention Act, and make refunds within ten days in the amounts previously agreed to with the Division to those consumers whose names were previously listed and others whose complaints were pending with the Division of Consumer Protection. On October 28, 2005 Mentoring of America, LLC entered into a settlement agreement with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection (the Division). According to the terms of the agreement, Mentoring of America, LLC agreed to comply with all requirements of the Utah Consumer Sales Practices Act, Utah Telephone Fraud Prevention Act, Business Opportunity Act and all other laws and rules administered by the Division applicable to them. The company agreed to pay an administrative fine to the Division, and make refunds by December 31, 2005 to consumers referenced in the agreement. The company also agreed to resolve and refund, without Division action, all other consumer complaints similarly situated under the Utah Consumer Sales Practices Act, Utah Telephone Fraud Prevention Act, and Utah Business Opportunity Act that are filed with the Division in the future and that occurred prior to this settlement agreement. The company further agreed to disclose in a clear and conspicuous manner the products and/or services represented in their sales presentations as well as whom will be providing those products and/or services. Nothing in the agreement should be construed as an admission of guilt or liability by Mentoring of America, LLC. On April 4, 2006 the Utah Division of Consumer Protection (the Division) filed an amended complaint with the Third Judicial District Court of the State of Utah (the Court) against Mentoring of America LLC, John Beck Amazing Profits LLC, and Jeff Paul (MOA). Charges filed indicate MOA breached the settlement agreement dated October 28, 2005 by failing to file the disclosures required to sell assisted marketing plans; honor the three-day right to cancel; and reform its business practices. The complaint indicates that MOA violated the Consumer Sales Practices Act, the Business Opportunity Disclosure Act, and the Telephone Fraud Prevention Act. The Division is seeking: damages and restitution for loss suffered by consumers to date; a fine for breach of the Settlement Agreement; an administrative fine for each deceptive act or practice found to have occurred; and for an order enjoining MOA all acts and practices in violation of the Consumer Sales Practices Act, the Telephone Fraud Prevention Act, and the Business Opportunity Act. The attorneys for MOA have answered the complaint asking the Court to judge that the Telephone Fraud Prevention Act, the Business Opportunity Act, and the Consumer Sales Practices Act as codified in the Utah Code are unconstitutional and that the complaint be dismissed without prejudice. This case is currently pending.

Check your state statues. Some states make it against the law (some non-admissible) to record conversations without both parties knowing that it is being recorded. Good luck to all trying to get their money back from this scam artist.

You posted with two different names under the same city and state. Anyway, Tape recording your converstations with Mentoring of America is not mandatory, but highly suggested. I got my refund without tapes, but later decided to send those in to assist in the investigation against them. It will help validate your complaint rock solid. It won't be their word against yours anymore if you have tape. Just contact Mr. Ao Pauga and ask him if you have to disclose it to them, just to be sure. I never did, I just recorded the calls as they happened. I beleive that if you tell them and they know that they are being recorded, they won't say some of the things to you that they normaly do say to everyone else who calls for a refund. They still won't give you a refund I can guarantee you that, but they just might not be as nasty or say some of the things they normally do.

Mentoring of America LLC places numerous General Help Wanted ads like the one below, in the classified section of their local Utah newspapers. I have copied and pasted one of their actual classified ads below. General Help Wanted Mentoring of America LLC Real Estate Coaching Inside Sales Hot Buyer leads / No cold calling Call: 877-704-6346 ext 4003 This is where these "knoledgeable, professional, experienced, successfull, ect." coaches come from. AN IMPORTANT NOTE to those who have already closed their bank/credit card accounts and are seeking a refund from Mentoring of America LLC

#23Consumer Suggestion

Thu, August 03, 2006

PLEASE READ IF YOU HAVE ALREADY CLOSED YOUR BANK/CREDIT CARD ACCOUNTS AND ARE SEEKING A REFUND It's very important that you read this if you have already closed your bank/credit card accounts that you used when Mentoring of America charged you, and you are currently seeking a refund from them. When you fill out the above consumer complaint form, in the box that says "What assistance are you seeking for the Division of Consumer Protection", you must state that you want help in getting a full refund in the form of a CHECK in the mail, from Mentoring of America LLC. If your accounts are now closed, and you do not specify this detail in the box, you will receive a Refund Agreement paper from Mentoring of America in the mail wanting to give you a refund in the form of a credit back to that already closed account. This is of no good to you. If you get one of these Refund Agreements that wants to credit back an already closed bank or credit card account, DO NOT SIGN IT. Also do not call Mentoring of America about it because they will lie to you to get you to sign it anyway like they tried to do to me. Don't call them, call Mr. Ao Pauga about it instead so that Mentoring of America sends you the refund in the form of a hand signed check that you can then go deposit into your current account. I recorded on tape a Mentoring of America supervisor lie to me in an attempt to get me to sign a Refund Agreement letter that wanted to credit my already closed bank account. By me signing it anyway, it would have rendered the agreement useless to me and they knew it. They cannot credit back an alredy closed account no matter what they tell you. After explaining this situation, a Mentoring of America supervior told me that I must still go ahead and sign the agreement anyway even thought my bank account had been closed for a long time now, that Mentoring of America will authorize and send a refund credit to that closed bank account, that my former bank would write me out a check for that ammount, and mail it to me directly in the mail. THIS IS A COMPLETE LIE. IT'S A FINAL ATTEMPT TO GET YOU TO SIGN ON THE AGREEMENT AND RENDER IT USELESS TO YOU. I immediately called my former bank while still recording the call on tape, and told them exactly what this Mentoring of America supervisor had just told me. The bank representative told me that the bank would NOT and could NOT send me such a check in any way, shape, or form because my bank account no longer exists period. They also have no way of knowing my current address if I have moved since then anyway. I had closed my bank account and switched banks in order to prevent Mentoring of America LLC from taking any more of my money. I recorded this all on tape, and Mr. Ao Pauga the Utah investigator conducting the current investigation on Mentoring of America LLC, will be receiving this tape recoding very soon. Keep this in mind folks if you are seeking a refund and you have already closed your bank/credit card accounts that you used at the time that Mentoring of America charged you.

Correct street adress and phone number for Mentoring of America

#24Consumer Suggestion

Thu, August 03, 2006

This is for people who need to file the above consumer complaint form with the Utah Divison of Consumer Protection against Mentoring of America LLC for a refund, but have already sent back their "Enrollment Confirmation" page that had their street address on it, lost it, and/or do not have their street address written down in order to fill out the above consumer complaint form correctly. Mentoring of America LLC has numerous other offices throughout the state of Utah. This is a good valid address that you can use to fill out your consumer complaint form above despite which other of their other Utah offices you are getting your coaching calls from. This is their corporate office: Mentoring of America LLC 752 East 1180 South Suite #200 American Fork, Utah 84003 Phone: 877-704-6346 This address above is taken right off my envelope that contained my refund directly from Mentoring of America LLC. They left out the suite number though. I had to find that out myself and add it. Mentoring of America even had the audacity to put a fake contact telephone number on their mailing address right on the shipping label of my refund envelope. I found that out myself. The number they put on my shipping label is a phone number to a Chevron gas station somewhere in Utah and not to them. I double checked the number and it trully is to a Chevron gas station somewhere in Utah. You can call it yourself if you don't believe me. It's 801-261-3119. Just don't harass the poor gas station clerk please. Every other business I have ever deal with uses this same space to include their true business contact phone number, not some fake BS number. And just for the record, the street address for Mentoring of America's refund processing department is: Mentoring of America LLC ATTN: Fulfillment Department 7030 Hayvenhurst Ave. Van Nuys, California 91406 You don't really need this second yet because the Utah Divison of Consumer protection will handle it for you, but just for the record.

Thanx for the advice Anonymous in Southern Cal.

#25Author of original report

Thanx for the advice "Anonymous" in Southern California. Basically, I have been taping the conversations between my coach and I. He hasn't been telling me anything that I couldn't have found out on my own and he seems to be reading right from the pamphlets and booklets about the program that I originally ordered. It's pathetic. The guy never gets back to me, calls on the wrong days, calls late and the sessions have been very short. I'm very upset that I fell for such a thing. I wouldn't mind if it was what they said it would be, but to tell you the truth, it certainly wasn't! I have already filled out the paperwork for the Utah Consumer Protection Department. I did not put a tracking number but I faxed it to them and dropped the hard copy in the mail. I'll wait a few days and then call that investigator. I wrote down the name and number you provided. I will now be calling the customer service people tonight to ask for the refund and I will be recording it. Problem is, I need to ensure it is legal to do so in my state. If it is not legal to do so without them knowing they are being recorded, then I will have to verbally advise them that they are being recorded. If I do that, the cat may be out of the bag at that point and they may clam up! Not really sure how to handle this due to the federal wire tapping laws and the strict, liberal laws that are in place in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. How important is it that I record the voice of the customer service people denying my refund request? Would my entire case hinge on that on peice? You would think that by now so many people have complained, that whoever makes the company have to reimburse people would understand thier tactics. Let me know your thoughts and let me know what you have learned from that investigator from the Utah Consumer Protection. Thanx a whole bunch.

Jay, you CAN get your money back. I got my $7,000 plus dollars back from Mentoring of America and here's how you can too.

#26Consumer Suggestion

Tue, August 01, 2006

Jay, If you or anyone else reading this wants their money back listen to me, read everything I've typed for you below, and do what I suggested right away. I GOT RIPPED OFF MYSELF. RECORD MENTORING OF AMERICA ON TAPE: I got ripped off the same way by them for over $7,000. They never wanted to give me my money back, after I realized that the training call info was general public knowledge available free online or the library. I won the battle and just recently got my money back from them. I have just deposited that check back into my bank account where it belongs. I am going to post a picture of my refund check from Mentoring of America very soon and an article to go along with it to help other people. Get yourself a tape recorder right NOW. Not later, not tommorrow, not next week, but right NOW. Begin to record the rest of your 30 minute coaching training calls at once. Get them recorded on tape. Also record any other conversatons with any of Mentoring of America's people whether you called them or they called you. If they called you, tell them to call you back in 5 minutes. Set up the tape recorder and wait for the call and record it. Don't say anything to the coach. Just go with the flow, finish all the calls, and record them on tape. Very important. Now, once you have a tape recorder ready to go, go ahead and call Mentoring of America and ask for a refund. Do a test call to another number or to your own house. Make sure the tape recorder is working and recording properly. Make sure you have a fresh tape and/or is rewinded so that you don't run out of tape during the call. Be free of backround noise. You are ready to record. You need a phone with a cord to do this. Tape recorders need a phone line to plug into to record the call. Go to Radio Shack if you have to. Holding a tape recorder to the handset of a cordless phone while you talk won't work. Tell Mentoring of America that you are not happy with the coaching, and that you feel the coaching is nothing but free public general knowledge (which it is, and which you have already stated above yourself) and not worth what you paid for it. I GUARANTEE you that they are not going to give you a refund. BUT, you want to record their people on tape telling you "NO". They are absolutely nasty when you demand a refund. Keep insisting that you want a refund. Record it all on tape. I CANNOT stress that point across to you enough. RECORD them on tape. SHOCKING NEWS AND FACTS ON MENTORING OF AMERICA: Mentoring of America just got sued for the third time just very recently. It's been on the news. At the same time, and right now the Utah Division of Consumer Protection is conducting an investigation on them. The state of Utah is taking legal action against them, and the Utah Division of Consumer Protection is helping people get their money back like they did me, because Mentoring of America continues to violate consumer protection laws. Here is the Mentoring of America lawsuit news report on video. Link 1: wkrc.com/mediacenter/?videoId=10945=9 Link 2: wkrc.com/heyhoward/story.aspx?content_id=0123FADF-38B2-4B20-8FAF-A5A2BBCD7F81 FAKE COACHES: The so called "professional, knowledgeable, successfull, experienced" coaches from Mentoring of America that you where mislead into paying thousands of dollars to learn from, are regular people who answered a local Utah classified help wanted ad that Mentoring of America places in it's local Utah paper to hire. They advertise a job "helping real estate clients" over the phone. These so called "coaches" are regular people who where looking for a job in the paper, are making no more that $60k a year, drive to work, have a boss, probably have no prior real estate experience, and follow some training call curriculum to teach you on the phone what to do. It's total rip off. I have tape recordings, and their help wanted ads that I am now turning over to the investigators at the Utah Divison of Consumer Protection. This is to aid their investigation on Mentoring of America, and to further validate consumer complaints against Mentoring of America. PRICE IS BASED ON YOUR OPEN CREDIT/FINANCE: Mentoring of America sets the price based on your credit and finance. They will ask people how much open credit or money they have available before wanting to give a price. They set the price in direct relation to your answers about your credit and finance. The more open credit you have, the higher they will price it. If you ask for the price before you give them this info, the will dodge the question, and take control of the call without giving you an answer, until after you tell them about your credit/finance. That's why if you type "Mentoring of America" in the search bar of this site and read past complaints, you are going to quickly find that other people have paid anywhere from $1,500 to over $15,000 for these same 30 minute coaching calls. Why is this? Because these 30 minute calls have no set price. It's based on how much open credit or money an individual person has. It's total B.S. and it's fraud. FAKE COLLECTION AGENCY TO SCARE YOU: John Beck has been known to use a fake collection agency called EPN to contact you if you do end up reversing the charges on your credit card. It's an attempt to scare you and to try and collect back the money that is rightfully yours if you win a dispute with your credit card company. Just tell EPN to F**k off. They can't do anything. Keep that in mind. HOW TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK FROM MENTORING OF AMERICA: Print this out this consumer complaint form below, fill it in completely and turn it in immediately. Don't wait until later. Do it right away. You do want your money back don't you? consumerprotection.utah.gov/downloads/complaintform.pdf Put a tracking number on it when you send it in and keep tracking it. Send your tape recordings along with it and the "Enrollent Confirmation" page if you did not return it to Mentoring of America yet. When you see that it has arrived, call and follow up with investigator Ao Pauga at 801-530-6601 about your complaint. He is the man that made Mentoring of America send me a refund check for 100% of the cost when he got my complaint form in the mail. Also file complaints with the Better Business Bureau, FTC, FBI, Utah Attorney General, your state's Attorney General, contact your local news, local police, and any where else you can find. Do the above and you can expect to see your money back real soon.
