Corona,#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

I personally hired Ms. Megan August 31, 2006 on a Thursday. She was to begin work the following Tuesday, September 5th , 2006 at 2:00pm. Her first day of work she was 20 minutes late. At the time I had a manager whom worked with her and trained her on the phones to call and book people who had an interest in the industry. Her hours were Monday to Thursday 2:00-9:00pm. Her second day of work she called in stating she had no money for gas. I told her if she could make it into work I would front her $100 out of her first check. That is exactly what I did. I took a risk on her, knowing it was only her second day. I gave her a company check for the exact amount $100 and NO I did not take taxes out of it because it was a front and I would inform my payroll company (Paychex) on her first payroll which was from the 1-15 and payday on the 22. After several more times of being late, always on her personal cell phone, dressing inappropriate, and many bad work habits, I decided to fire her on September 21. (A Thursday) I then immediately called into payroll and combimed both checks and paydates (5-15 and 16 -21) requesting her check be mailed to her address on file. I have verified her checks were indeed cashed. PERIOD !

Megan, If you haven't received your final paycheck yet, call the CA State Labor Commission. You can file a complaint with them. They will help you with all the paperwork you need. If JRP did not pay you within 72 hrs of your final work day, JRP will also have to pay a fine (payable to you) for every day it is late (something like $90 a day). The Labor Commission's office in your area will be in the phone book, or maybe online. I believe they will be listed under the Department of Industrial Relations. This Commission's sole job is to go after employers such as JRP and others to make sure employees are paid. Do it now, before the current owner turns it over to someone else who will not take responsibility for past obligations. You can also contact JRP Intl on Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles and complain to them. Call them everyday if you need to. They will put pressure on the owner of the Corona JRP to pay you. Ask for Ron Patterson or Constance Gore.
