This collection agency took every dime from my checking and savings account with no warning. I was not served with any legal garnishment papers, nor sent any letters regarding this old 2002 bill. I still am not exactly sure what happened as it just happened yesterday, but I am beginning to think this had something to do with a settlement offer that was made to me from a different company. The settlement offer I accepted from this other company was (even though it was a charge off in 2004), allowing them to take two payments of $76 out of my checking account over the span of two months to finally get it off my credit report and do the right thing. This was a verbal agreement, as well as an acceptance (My acceptance) of a written agreement from the company. They violated this agreement if this indeed was the same account.

Two days after the first $76 was taken out of my account A Legal debt collection sucked out every single dime I had, which was $88 in my checking account and $1100 in my savings account. Of the money taken was my first child support check of $50 from the state of Oregon. The Statute of Limitations is 6 years and this account was from 2002.  When I contacted Johnson Mark about it the woman I spoke with advised me that they "renewed" it in 2013. This bill, according to her was $1000 but is now $4000 due to interest.  This is excessive debt, which is also a violation of The Fair Credit reporting Act.

This agency also violated the FCRA by:

1. Reporting Old debts as new (this was a 2002 debt)

2. Reporting information that is more than 7 years old.

3. Not properly serving the consumer (me)

I am a single grandparent, raising my 5 year old grandson by myself.  I work part time, take paralegal classes online and receive SNAP benefits and Non Needy Relative assistance from the state of $226 because I had not received child support for my grandson. When this agency sucked my accounts dry it means not being to pay for gas to go to work, buy extra food for my grandson and I and not being able to pay my rent and phone bill, which is coming up 2 days from now. After I got off the phone with the agency, I broke down and cried in front of my mother and stepfather.  Around 9 Pm last night, while visiting with my neighbor, Bonnie, I started having chest pains talking about how I was going to pay my bills now, which set me into a panic attack and I had to go home.

I plan on seeking an attorney, in fact have already started looking as this has disrupted my life immensely.

These people will hopefully soon be seeing me in court.
