Customer came in requesting that we change the motor on his truck. Upon inspection, we found a broken flywheel, which saved him over $4,000 in repairs. We replaced the flywheel for no more than $600, and told him that the same problem could occur due to the high performance enhancements that were done to his vehicle by the previous owner of the vehicle.
When customer called and told me that the flywheel was broken again, we told him to bring the vehicle in an we would give him 100% warranty on parts and labor. It is not our practice to refuse warranty work. We also informed him that we would need to repair whatever was causing the flywheel to break, or else the problem would continue to occur. A week later, he brought us a receipt from another repair shop for $1,200 to replace the flywheel and asking to be reimbursed that money.
He never gave us the opportunity to fix the problem. We told him that the warranty was good for repair work done at our location. So we contacted that repair shop that did this work to ask what the problem had been, and we were told by that shop owner that he never worked on the vehicle. We showed him the receipt, and he said that the receipt was fake and that this customer was scamming us.
J's Auto Repair has a reputation for being an honest auto repair facility. It is unfortunate when one individual takes it upon himself to try and tarnish what we have worked so hard to accomplish.
