I recently read the information contained in the Rip-Off report on First Lenders Corp. As an employee, I was shocked by the misinformation contained in the report and since our company was named as the bad guy, I wanted to set the record straight.
In September of 2001, First Lenders/Enhancement Services, Inc. entered into a contract with a company named JT Card Services (JTCS), to serve as a third party service provider. Basically our obligation was to answer customer service calls for a product that JTCS was selling. In addition to the product marketed and owned by JTCS, they agreed that they would offer their clients a 30-day free trial to our product, Household Protection Plus (HPP). Household Protection Plus is a membership program that provides benefits to homeowners and renters that may be required to vacate their home in the case of an emergency. It offers emergency cash and lodging, emergency phone messaging, photo and detailed written inventory of your personal property, homeowner's deductible repayment, along with best buy, comprehensive purchase and extended warranty protection. If any consumer is not satisfied with the HPP Membership program, he or she may cancel at any time in the first three months of membership and receive a full refund, unless a membership benefit has been paid. If the client does not cancel within the first 30 days, his or her account is charged the annual membership fee. To ensure accuracy, we tape record all acceptance calls so the call may be played back for the consumer in the event that there is any questions concerning customer acceptance. Once the 30 day free trial begins, our company sends the client a membership packet, containing all pertinent information to benefits, terms, and conditions. If after the client has been billed, he wants to cancel, and it is within the first three months, we will refund his money, no questions asked.
As I mentioned, we began our relationship with JTCS in September 2001 and terminated our relationship in January 2002, as we found that JTCS was not sending their clients the products that had been marketed. Our only role with that company was to handle customer service for them and when we determined the company was not taking care of its clients, we terminated the contract. The only product for which we were responsible was Household Protection Plus. I can safely say that Leonard did agree to try this product's 30 day trial membership. I can also say that there are tapes to verify the conversation. The sad thing is that Leonard could have simply cancelled the contract in the first 3 months and received a full credit. We do not want members that do not want our product and we refund many every day with no questions asked.
Leonard's accusations of First Lenders/Enhancement Services are false and unfounded. It is unfortunate that he had a bad experience with JTCS, but that is not our company and we were privately contracted to perform a service for them. Household Protection Plus has over 100,000 satisfied members and they are satisfied because we have their best interest in mind and we operate legally. I would be more than happy to discuss his unfortunate situation if he would like to contact me.
