Just Brakes #09 They almost did a rip-off on me for an entire brake job I didn't need! Richardson Texas
This Just Brakes has just recently relocated from 520 W. Beltline, Richardson, Tex. to 342 S. Central Expwy., Richardson, Tex. I went there Friday, 11/26/04 to have my front rotors resurfaced. They said they'd do an entire brake inspection in case anything else needed to be done. While I waited, the hispanic man that works the counter told another customer (a man) that they inspected his brakes & he needed work done to the tune of over $500.00. He was surprised, but agreed without even looking at his brakes with them. He was also driving a late model car like mine.
About 10 mins. later the hispanic man came in to tell me that I needed a 4 Wheel Friction Reline, 4 Disc Pads, my rotors all resurfaced, that all 4 of my Calibers were wore out, including Disc. Hardware & a Shim Kit & my lines bleed, flushed etc. & it would be $489.95 without tax. I knew he was lying as I had just purchased the car 2 weeks ago & had it inspected (including the brakes) by a mechanic before I purchased it & that mechanic told me I only needed the front brake rotors resurfaced.
The hispanic man at Just Brakes didn't know this of course. I looked at the car brakes with him as they had taken them all off the car. I told him to give me a totally itemized breakdown of the $489.95 & to put the brakes back on my car. He got upset because I refused to even let him do any work & I questioned his diagnosis. He refused to give me an itemized breakdown.
In the interim there were 2 other customers (men) that had been given estimates similar to mine, but were dumb enough to let them go ahead & do what I'm sure was probably unnecessary work without even questioning them. I went elsewhere & had the rotors resurfaced for $60.00 and my brakes were fine the mechanic told me. He's the one that told me numerous people had been ripped off by Just Brakes. I told him I might be a woman, but I'm not stupid.
