Gee whiz, Danielle! I was really feeling sorry for you up to the point where you said: "Three months after I bought the car, I got pulled over by the police for having expired license tabs. They treated me like a criminal. It turns out that the title had never been transferred into my name. And, the prior owner was a female felon fitting my description..." Just whose fault is this? I assume you didn't have any insurance? Is this why you left it in the former owner's name, to expose the former owner to the liability involved in case you had an accident? I don't know what the laws are in Minnesota, but in most states your car would've been towed and impounded by the police. I would say if the police didn't (when they stopped you), they were doing you a favor. I can't for the life of me understand why someone would buy and drive a car without receiving the title (and securing proper registration). I can sympathize with you on the treatment you received from the used car dealer (even though his procedures are SOP with most car dealers), but you'd be better off leaving out your quote I mentioned above in any dialogue or correspondence with the "Attorney General of MN". That, Ms., amounts to an irresponsible act on your part.
