I noticed a charge on my charge card from "LD Calling Plan" and since I have a specific Long Distance Carrier, I decided to investigate. I found out that this company is charging people without their authorization. This might be tied into a computer parts company that sells parts on line (I will update if I can find out specifically this company is doing so). I have contacted my Credit Card company and opened a Fraud Investigation. I will also be looking into filing charges with the FTC and FCC along with reporting this to the PA State Attourney General. I suggest if you find such charges on your account, call your Credit Card company and open a Fraud investigation. I am not sure if they have changed my long distance carrier without my consent - my credit card company told me that there was only one charge by this company and they have suspended the charged pending the investigation. Either way, this is unethical business practices and should be stopped immediately. I will update my report as I find more information. Jack Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

LD Calling Plan - refund promise

#20

Mon, June 17, 2002

I called the number on "Ripoffreport.com" for LD Calling plan - aka AMR Long Distance and they promised to issue a refund as long as I called off my fraud investigation through my credit card. I agreed and they are to issue me a refund. My credit card company told me I can re-open the investigation at any time so I always have that to fall back on. The woman told me that this was tied to "Tigerdirect.com" and their "free calling card" offer (which I was not interested in anyway - I said yes but then hit back and hit "no" because I don't need it). I am addressing this by passing this information along to all other tech buyers so they can make their own judgement about Tiger Direct. I can promise you I won't be buying anything from them any time soon (and I know QUITE A FEW tech buyers and I am responsible for QUITE A FEW tech $$$ being spent - with other merchants besides TigerDirect). Just to clarify things, this does NOT seem to be a "slamming" scam where your Long Distance company is changed. This is just for their calling card. I would like to say that they did not fight in returning my money. From the looks of this website, it seems that they have had to deal with quite a few people who were charged unsuspecting. I suggest to anyone who was charged, call them and tell the situation and they should refund your money. If they don't, unleash the hounds - your rights are protected. Ripoffreport.com rocks! keep up the good work!
