Yes, they should not have used your car for personal errands. No, they are not responsible for the lugnuts stripping out. The company that put the lugnuts on is responsible. The only reason a lugnut or stud strips or breaks coming off is because they were not installed properly. The only reason they gave them to you is because they thought it would be cheaper than using their attorney to fight you. This is akin to a customer thinking I should be responsible for something I did not install. If they did not install the tires, they are not responsible for any damage caused by the installation. Damage is always caused during installation. If a bolt breaks, it is because the threads were not prepped with anti-sieze, and this includes lugnuts and studs. I agree however, that they should clean the car inside/out and throw you a freebie like an oil change or something for the use of the car. If the stain is still there, take the car to the General Manager of the dealership and talk to him/her. A show of force will get you nowhere, while diplomacy reigns supreme in these cases. Good luck, you may get some extra freebies for the trouble they caused you.
