LG&E / KU has been price gouging their customers. I lived in Jeffersonville IN for a yr, prior to moving to Louisville, under Duke energy service area where my monthly electric cost was 70 - 80 dollars a month for a fully electric 1000 sq ft. Apt. I moved 6 miles across the river to Louisville in LG&E service area where my monthly electric bill was 181 dollars for an all electric 1000 sq ft. Apt. I put my account on a budget in an effort to stabilize my expenses, that budget increased every 3 months, when I moved out of their service area i was owed a refund from them, they told me they will process the refund 60 days after my cancelation of service. They have been rude, unapologetic, and even sent me a termination notice when i asked to be removed from the budget plan. They are a crooked company fleecing their consumers and they maintain a monopoly on the Louisville - Lexington market. The feds should look into them for antitrust violations and price fixing.

I also feel that the LG&E costs are too high. I did not realize the KU was that much lower and have been thinking of moving elsewhere. The Louisville Water Co. is even worse. I am one person and my bills run over $70 per month and I don't use that much water. They are difficult to work with and have very poor service.
I am not sure who is worse on the customer service, the water co. or the newspaper, The Courier-Journal. As long as I live here, I don't have any choice. I live on social security and my utilities take a very large portion of my income. It is ridiculous.
