I guess they're attempting to extort monies from me for not paying their rediculous inflated rates. My rate went from $409/year, to $970/year. Retired, no infraction/accidents, drive less than 500 miles/month, 23 year-old truck. Yeah, I'm paying nearly $1K/year to insure that. This was shortly after paying them the monthly rate, they turn-around and think I'm just going to agree to their inflated rate.

I double checked just to be sure they hadn't made an error. Nope, $970 is now what they want. No thanks, I'll be buying insurance elsewhere, which was exactly what I did. Now, a few months later, I received a letter from a collection agence attempting to extort over $170 from me in the name of Liberty Mutual.

I guess honest business practices are becoming a thing of the past. I'll be refering this the my States Department of Insurance to have this looked into. Bottom line, avoid Liberty Mutual, elsewise like myself, you'll be wasting your time clearing a fabricated debt.

Nothing wrong with my Reading Comprehension

I can only Read and Comprehend what you wrote. You wrote nothing about an "initial payment" followed by an increased payment requirement. You are paying monthly, which means you are not bound by a long-term contract. Your rates went up, so you decided to cancel and go with someone else.

Before you accuse someone of suffering from "Reading Comprehension" problems, you might consider re-reading your initial post and recognizing what anyone with no other information must draw from it. Again, you wrote that you were paying MONTHLY, and your monthly rate INCREASED, so you CANCELLED.

Again, NO RIPOFF. Now, let's find out how good YOUR Reading Comprehension is.

Please consider working on your reading comprehension. The point of my complaint wasnt the fact they tried to raise my rate after giving me an initial bogus quote in order to get an initial payment from me. It was the fact they turned me in to collections for not paying it.

Feel free to explain the reasoning behind that.

Um, no. An insurance company raising its rates does NOT constitute a "ripoff." They told you what the new rates would be, you made a decision to go with another company with lower rates. That's it. Not a Ripoff.

What is with you people and your lack of understanding as to what "ripoff" means? Come back when your new company refuses to cover you- that might be a ripoff.
