In brief: Was charged the outrageous price of $234 for a basic car unlocking service (3 min labor) with unprofessional service.

I locked my keys in my car at my place of work and contacted one of the first places that came up in a google search - Locksmith Directory (local.locksmithdirectory.com  1-844-243-4912).  The charge showed up on my cc bill as All Locksmith Services

The prices seemed comparable from the few sites I looked at, maybe $40-$70 max. Nothing over that price range at all.

When I called they told me it was $35 for the service call + labor $19-$200, depending on the type of lockout (difficulty, time, make/model of car).  This didn't raise any red flag for me since other websites had listed specific prices correlating with different types of lockouts (digital locks and broken keys in locks cost a lot more).  I figured my mine would easily be on the low end because it's an old car and an easy fix.  It took him literally 3 min to open the door, the only easier way to open a door would have been to use the key.  And of course he charged me the absolutely maximum, probably for no other reason than he felt he could get away with it.  $200 for 3 min of labor is ridiculous.  Plus the service charge (for showing up/travel) so he gave me a total of $234.  Total scam.

IN ADDITION, service was very unprofessional:

-Unmarked car should have been a red flag.

-I waited an hour out in the cold after he called and said he was 10 minutes away.  He was not 10 min away at all and also disregarded my simple directions and got lost.  I gave the technician specific instructions ("go down this road and take a right onto this road") but he took the other road and added more time.

-Technician was somewhat friendly until he told the price then his demeaner changed and felt agressive.  I was a female alone in a back parking lot, after normal work hours at this point and felt uncomfortable arguing too much since he was unwilling to discuss charges (though I certainly did a bit).

-His payment device was out of battery charge and he spent another half an hour (out in the cold) trying to get someone on the phone to call in the credit card number.

-Was not provided with receipt.

I really got taken advantage of.  I feel like he broke me down by arriving late and having me alone in a parking lot.  I talked with the company afterward and they basically said the technicians can charge whatever they want once they get there, and they were unwilling to explain why the charge was astronomically high.  For this money I could have purchased 3.5 years of AAA membership.
