Really so it is perfectly normal for you to have some person call you up telling you that they will send you random items and all you have to do is send them out again.  Where for this minimal effort they will pay you an insane amount of money, compared to the amount of "work" you actually need to do.

I do have to say it is a rare case when I tell people that you better hope that they were just wanting to steal your identity, because the alternative could be much..much worse.

You see what you have become is a co-conspirator in FEDERAL CRIMES since it involved the US Mail.  These items you received were most likely paid for with stolen credit cards and/or counterfeit checks.  They told the innocent victims to send these items to you, where you send it along to someone else.  Now, on the plus side at least you aren't alone...the person you sent it to(or got it from) was also being scammed.  As these criminals will do this 2-3 times before it ends up at the final destination.   So you can hope that you are quite a bit down in this chain so that when the Postal Inspectors and Federal Marshals start to unravel this crime they don't track it down to you.

The point in all of this...You got SCAMMED and unless you have a pre-existing relationship with a company you should NEVER give your personal or financial information to anyone you do not know or can see face to face.  Oh and while this may not have been the case here, NEVER accept any sort of check or money order from anyone..for any reason..if they want  you to deposit it and send them a portion of the funds back.

Also, realize that if the scammers think you are worried about this they will use this to their further advantage.  So again NEVER pay anyone who is threatinging you with arrest or other penalties over the phone....real law enforcement agencies will come to your house..not call you up demanding payment.  Especially if they want it in the form of Gift Cards.
