Last year we contracted with Long Distance Van Lines for our move from Miami, Florida to Los Angeles, California. They told me they would be with me throughout the move (did not happen) and that someone from quality control would contact me two weeks prior to our scheduled moving date. Well, they called 3 days before pick up and went over a revised inventory and determined that we needed more boxes and increased our cubic feet to 1,858, or 136 cubic feet more than what they had originally estimated. This was based on my conversation with the quality control person, while she look at our house pictures posted on a real estate website (Zillow or Trulia). When they picked our inventory they calculated it was 2,452 (or 592 more than the revised contract ) cubic feet. At the end of the day, we ended up paying $13,134 from our original contract of $8,996. That's 46% more than what they had originally estimated.

These are people which are supposed to be doing this every day and had a look at all the furniture and art work. There's only the two of us and the house was a 3bedroom 2 bath house and we left many things behind. We are extremely disappointed and feel that they took us for a ride. There were other mishaps, like the wardrobe boxes with no rods, so all the clothes in hangers and shoes were thrown inside, several broken items and an additional $290 charge in the revised contract so they would not charge us $1.05 extra per cubic feet for the full Pack if we exceeded the estimated cubic feet, which they charged us anyway and after arguing with them they promised to reimburse us, but never did. If you consider using them, you have been warned. Unless you can get a firm contract with no increases, stay away. By the way, they advertise that they use their trucks and drivers, but the people that deliver our inventory were subcontractors with their own trucks.
