We Bought a 4 month old Sun Conure that was supposedly tame.

It isn't tame, only hand fed. It cannot be petted & bites all the time.

None of these birds in her shop are banded - buyer beware!!

Birds make the best pets!

Hi Nancy. Nice name. LOL. (I'm probably a bit prejudice in my opinion though since we have the same name!) Is this your first bird or have you had other birds? I ask because I've had birds for years and even though mine were hand fed (by me, I get mine from the nest and hand feed them myself every 4 hours till they are ready to be weaned), that doesn't mean they will go to everyone. Right now I have a 5 year old cockatiel who I got from a local breeder. While she is very loving to my husband and myself, she won't go to anyone else for some time till she feels they are safe. We are her flock and everyone else is outsiders. If anything ever happened to us, it would take her some time before she would be friendly to anyone else like she is with us. I have a feeling the same thing is going on with the bird you purchased. Give the bird some time to get used to his/her new surroundings. Give it lots of love and talk to it/pay attention to it as much as possible. Offer it treats by hand so it gets used to your hand being near it. Then when it's calmed down, start to try to put your hand near it and see if it will let you touch it or climb up on your finger. Not all birds come banded either. None of mine have been, the breeders I buy from do the breeding themselves and I get the bird from them as soon as it's old enough to leave the nest and be hand fed safely. A band doesn't really mean much to a person who's going to own the bird as a pet. My bird will NOT come out of her cage using the door. She's never liked it, although I'm not sure why. I just take the top off the cage and she comes running out and jumps on my shoulder where she spends all of her waking hours. She plays on me and on my desk as I play online. She even has her own plate to eat from and her own water glass on my desk. She pecks at whichever she wants to let me know. Please, if you have the bird out of it's cage, make sure it's wings are clipped so it won't ever get loose and escape thru an open door or window. Domestic birds don't survive well in the wild. I know if mine ever did get loose (I keep her wings clipped always so she's safe) she would probably sit outside in a tree and wait for someone to bring her food. LOL. I wish you good luck with your new pet.
