On May 6, 2015, I took my van to Maaco for repair of rust holes on the roof and spot painting of the hood and roof.  I discussed the repair work with Mr. Sevren Grossman, Manager, and emphasized that the rust holes "must go away." I acutally suggested that he revise his original quote higher because I wanted top of the line work and paint.  He did so, raising his quote to $852.14.  We discussed the warranty and he assured me that there was a full year warranty.  This is clearly reflected on the quote.  I picked up my van on May 14, 2015, paying $852.14 at that time.

Less than two weeks later I noted paint peeling and leaks in the roof.  I returned the van to Maaco on May 22, 2015 for warranty repair.  They did repairs and I picked up my vehicle one week later at no cost.  In early September 2015, less than four months later, I noted leaks.  Upon inspecting the van's roof, I found the holes has reopened and there were areas of peeling paint.

I returned to Maaco on May 14, 2015 for additional warranty work.  At that time I was informed by Ms. Christina Gonzales that there was no warranty.  However, they would take the van in and evaluate what could be done.  They kept the vehicle for several days, then told me that even though my original quote indicated a full years guarentee, no warranty would be allowed.

Ms. Gonzales said they could repeat the repairs for $516.03 (giving me a formal quote) but there would be no warranty and I could expect failure again in six months to a year.  I could bring the van back as often as I pleased for repair at $500 each time.  I took my van home.  After consulting with some "real" body repair men, I purchased fiberglass bondo, sanded out the damaged areas, and did the repairs myself.  We'll see how long that lasts.

My Maaco receipt shows $300 charged for Body Labor plus $100 charged for Surface Recon.  I feel this $400 reflects the work on the rust holes as stated in the quote.  Since all the repairs failed and the warranty was refused, I feel this $400 should be refunded.  I am seriously considering filing legal action in small claims court.

I am also telling everyone I know not to use Maaco.
