Both my friend and I dropped our cars off at Maaco in Killeen to have our cars painted and after we were told our cars were done,  we got them back looking horrible. My camaro came back looking worse than it did when i sent it in. I contacted the manager and he said to bring it back in and they would fix it. I towed it back up there and the manager, Ken, made me pay yet again when they were the ones that messed it up. I paid them what they charged and got my car back looking even worse. Now my car is three different colors and when I tried calling Ken back to talk to him, he avoided my calls  and made a fellow employee handle the issue by saying there is nothing they can do for me. I simply asked for my vehicle to be repaired or for a refund if they could not fix it and they would not do either. He told me that they are overwhelmed with my car and that they do not want to see my car again. They were paid to colorblend the car and there is a night and day difference in the light silver that it is and the grey that they painted. The time frame that they originally gave me is 3-5 business days and after 3 months now, the vehicle is still looking terrible. The manager told us that the vehicle was ready to be picked up and was looking good, which we do have a recording of him saying. As far as my friends car, He has a 77 Buick Skylark. Ken came to our house and gave us an estimate on both vehicles included i the estimate was the dents repaired and the vehicles painted. We got the vehicle back painted. They only painted half the jams in the vehicle and painted over all the dents, didnt do any body repair whatsoever in the vehicle. When my friend Eric called to speak with Ken, Ken got on the phone and refused to fix the vehicle. He then proceeded to comment about how he has spent time in jail and he is not afraid to go back. Which made us feel threatened considering he knows where we live. The guy is very hard to get along with because he is hot tempored and snaps quickly and no sense of customer service, We explained to him that all we wanted wasour vehicles fixed and told us to get lost and he will not give any refunds, Since it is a privately ran company, the upper management team of Maaco is unable to assist us in any way. They called Ken and tried to deal with him and he told them no, he will not do anything about our vehicles. Something needs to be done with this issue before he takes more money from more people and gives them as poor of service as we recieved

well i see that mr ken had posted a few pics of my 77 buick skylark and from those pics the car may seem to look sweet but here are some pics i took that really define not so great quality paint and body. Mr ken said, and i quote, I made sure that my body men painted the entire door jams and which that are not painted and here is the picture of the inside of my door jam " NOT PAINTED JUST OVER SPRAY ". When Mr Ken came out to my house i had told him that i wanted all the body damage fixed and no flaws in the paint.

So after saying that and after 3 an a half months later i finally get my car back and as im looking at the work that maaco had performed i found my self very displeased in the amount of time and effort that was put into my car because as im looking at the car i see chips that they put in to my car dents every where an most of all my jams are not yet be painted and fish eyes every where and when i ask Mr Ken about the poor quailty that has been put in to my car he then says that there is nothing more he can do for me and to take my car and to be happy with what i got.

Prior of getting my car back i had some complaints of the time that it was taking to finish my car and when Mr Ken responded back to me over the phone he had told me if i dont let up on the subject that he and i quote wont have no choice but to do things to me that would have him end up back in prison which prettty much tells me that he was going to more than likely beat me to an inch of my life. SO YEAH WHAT HE DIDNT KNOW THE WHOLE TIME I HAD MR KEN ON THE PHONE I WAS RECORDING EVERY WORD HE SAID SO WHEN THAT TIME COMES I WILL HAVE THAT RECORDING WITH ME IN COURT.  Mr Ken was to have the inner of my rims painted black and for which are black they never got paint. Maaco was also suppose to paint my grill black and for which is still gray and my hood jams are still white as well.

The things that really hurt me the most was that i told Mr Ken how much this car meant to me and all i got was more damage at the end like all my skylark emblems broke an they broke front body filer an tryed patching it with masking tape an painting over the broken part to cover the line where the brake was. So i would like to let every one out there that is reading this conplaint know , think twice before u want ur car or truck or what ever you may have paint by killeen Maaco and if you do get ur vehicle paint there i would like to say i hope u get treated better than i did. Here are all the pictures of my car after i got it back and after i payed $1,625 for proof that im not lieing on Maacos behalf.

Thank you for ur time

Ken was paid to colorblend the camaro. This is why the additional money was added. He said he had to paint the whole front of the car to blend it to the rear, which our invoice clearly states. There is a night and day difference in the colors. I would like to make it clear that the picture previously posted was not after Maaco painted it, although they talked bad about the last place that painted it which was Classic Carriages. They did an outstanding job compared to the work we got from Maaco.

The real issue here is the dishonesty from a so called manager Ken. When we called him back to ask him about the car, he wouldnt even talk to us. Ken gave us a 1 year warranty and then refused to honor it. The car is too embarrassing to drive like this so it sits in the garage. I am unable to promote his paint job because it looks too horrible to take it to shows and we dont want people to think that we painted it.  Here is a picture of the car after Maaco painted it.

#4REBUTTAL Individual responds

Thu, May 09, 2013

In response to the Rip off report I would like to clear up some of the misrepresentations posted by Richard. I will try to keep it as simple as possible. Mr frost is correct the cars did take too much time we took them in when we had about a 30 day backlog but were hopeful that we could catch up.

The camaro was dropped off without a motor. So we had to push the car which added to the delay. Mr frost did not have any idea what paint color code was used the last time it was painted, so we did our best to match the color from scratch. Silver is one of the hardest paints to match. Mr frost first repair order was to repair both bumpers a small dent in the left door and spot paint those areas. The cost including tax and materials was 375.00. A large discount was given on the work because Eric Mr Frost friend only had 2000.00 to spend on both cars and they promised to help promote Maaco at the events the cars were going to be entered in.

After picking up the camaro Mr Frost called and said he was unhappy with the color match and the repair on the door. I told him to bring the car back to see what we could do to make him happy. Mr Frost returned with the car and wanted things fixed that were from a prior work done before we worked on the car. I agreed to repair some but ask him to help cover the cost for the additional work not on the original repair order.

We then wrote a new repair order to repair some chips and scratches on the front end we painted the hood both fenders, the left door and the rear bumper clearly more work than the first time but I only charged him 140.29. For the extra things he wanted repaired. I told him then that silver is very hard to match and that I needed the color code for his paint. He did not know the answer. If it was a factory color we could mix it and tint the color to match. But with out a good starting point it was hard to have perfect results which is what Mr frost and his friend Eric expected for less than 500.00 dollars.

With respect to the skylark, the body work that was on the repair order was completed so well that Eric forgot where the repairs were done. I worked with Eric as much as I could on his car with a limited budget. It is hard to pick what to repair. Sometimes when a customer is looking at old flat paint dents may be over looked. We let the customer choose how much or how little they want repaired before paint its hard to explain that the dents they don’t seen now will be much more noticeable with shinny paint the repair order on the skylark was 1625.00 including racing stripes and jambs a considerable discount at retail the repair would have cost over 2500.00 dollars

Now about the comment that I tried to intimidate them it is just slander. We including corporate tried to work with both involved but because they wanted using there words perfect paint jobs there was nothing we could do to make them happy I would suggest to them to read contracts before they sign them. Do not ever expect more than you pay for.
