I went to Main Street Trading Company to see about selling my engagement ring. My husband passed away some time ago and I needed the extra money for our disabled son's therapy bills. My ring appraised for $6,000. The main center stone is 0.72 carats, and the ring weighs 3.79 grams. I know all of this because it's been appraised twice, once for my insurance company and when I first thought I should sell it. When I went to Main Street Trading Company, I was greeted by a larger man with red hair, and a shorter man who was much older. I told them that I was considering selling the ring and handed it to the larger man. After they laughed loudly at me when I showed them the AGI certification and diamond identification card and map, they claimed my ring only weighed 2.25 grams and that the center stone was only 0.44 carats. They insulted my late husband, and they told me that the ring would never have cost more than $1,000 brand new. They were trying to do everything they could to convince my that I had a cheap ring and I should sell it to them very cheap. Thankfully, I know better. After I left, I went to an actual jewelry store and the weights and measurements matched the paperwork for my ring. To confirm, I went to a pawn shop and they again confirmed the weights and measurements on my paperwork. They honestly tried to scam me out of my ring, thinking I was an idiot that didn't know anything about my ring. They purposely lied about everything concerning my ring. Stay FAR away from this company!
