Regards to G. in Greenock, the story which you posted here is correct, it is even worser. They treath you like a piece of s**t with no rights, only thing they do is paying at time and deduct at time.
They let you sign papers, multiple choice security questions and NDA's which are filled out in front by the management or HR already.
Pray that you never will get sick because they even deduct a complete salary if it is needed, they don't care about people , also not if those people have a family with children.
They don't inform you about certain things, they simply let you down.
You get an awfull contract with Manpower, must agree with rules from IBM and work for other companies like Cisco, Infoprint, Skype or Xerox for example.
Probably those companies don't know under which circumstances their nationals are working in Greenock and what kind of job they do.
Xerox and SKYPE for example, two of the biggest and leading companies at the world should shame that they give their support into the hands of Manpower and IBM.
The people which work for them, work under the most worste circumstances which I ever saw.
They clean up the mess for Xerox, do more then a great job and get payed for this a minimum wage which is even not enough to buy and spent everything you need in a normal life.
A busticket costs meanwhile more then 60 pounds, you need to pay your rent, but also other costs like Council Tax, British Gas & Power.
95% of the agents which work at Manpower/IBM do have financial problems.
If you get sick, really sick and you do not have an insurance, then you can go to the social fund to keep yourself alive!
If you report something else about that company, than you should visit a doctor first and let check your brain. Somebody which is happy there and happy with the money which he gets must be sick.
It is and stays a big ripoff and really, a company, which tells me that I must sign papers, which they filled out already for me, can't be serious.
I am glad that I found a job again in Belgium and wish all other people which still work for those rippers strength! Keep your head up and try to get out of there as soon as possible!

It's very strange what you're saying... I have been an employee there for quite a long time and it has been the best thing I've ever done! Like you I was recruited abroad, from Holland, and if I remember correctly when I was first contacted I was given a long and detailed document with all information about the Centre, the town, my responsibilities and even the culture! It was so detailed that I could see how much a piece of bread would cost as well as the amount of taxes I would pay on my salary. Did you not work out how much you would be paid from that? My girlfriend is Italian and she always tells me how Italians don't trust verbal confirmations and want everything in writing... I guess you're not one of them! Still I think it would be up to me to make sure I check how much taxes I would pay in another country. Moreover I know for sure that 14500 is definetely not the minimum salary you can get in the UK... there are government websites where you can check that out. Like you, during my time there I've formed a lot of nice friendships which I still keep and that is probably the best from working there, but I also had the opportunity to improve my skills and myself and if you wanted an IBM contract I guess you know that yourself. You are probably upset because you didn't get it, however I feel your comments are definetely over the top. I rented in Greenock for 5 years, never had any problems with the landlords... ok maybe you've been unlucky but I don't see how that can be Manpower's responsibility... I had a good HR when I was there, friendly and fair, but still she had to have the rules respected and you and I know well that is often not the case. I don't know where you worked in the past but I've hardly seen employers givin you canteen vouchers in a call centre... I am now in another company, same industry, and like you I've been told they're cutting jobs and I need to leave at the end of the month... unlike you though I don't have Manpower trying to find another job for me! I guess you would have preferred being laid off than answering calls all day... D.
