Marathon Imaging Supplies, Toner Phoner Scheme, Fraudulent Office Supply Shipment and Billing Sherman Oaks California
Marathon Imaging Supplies, Inc., of Sherman Oaks, California,(not to be confused with Marathon Imaging Systems in Arizona) is a company which cold-calls places of business offering their product. They begin by offering a free trial on a toner cartridge. They make it very difficult to return the cartridge even if you do not want it. They then bill for the cartridge.
After the first cartridge is paid for, they will call again within a month or so and tell you that they are shipping the remainder of your order. More toner, which you never requested. If you reject it, they will tell you that it has already shipped (even though it has not) and pressure you to accept the packages and pay the invoice. If you are insistent, they will back down, tell you they are closing out your account, and tell you that you won't receive anything more.
Great, right? No. They'll call again after another three or four months to tell you that they have now shipped the rest of what you ordered but weren't ready for the last time around. And so it goes, over and over.
You may even continue to receive bills for returned shipments, either for the full price of the items or for a restocking fee.
If you receive a call from Marathon Imaging Supplies, Inc., say no and hang up. Also, inform all people in your office to do the same. Each time they call, say no and hang up. DO NOT ACCEPT SO MUCH AS THE "FREE" TRIAL ON A SINGLE TONER CARTRIDGE.
Finally, the so-called "double capacity" cartridges are merely refilled used cartridges that are of inferior quality and likely will be used up just as quickly as (or more quickly than) a regular cartridge.
