I received a message on my answering machine from Gail at Maxi Web Center requesting notification on when we would be sending payment for our invoice. They did send a follow-up fax with a bill for $399.95

This sounded exactly like the previous AmeriSource, World Wide Source and Nationwide Marketing-Business to Business calls we had received previously.

I attempted to contact them but was unable to reach a person and I was not going to leave a message on their voice mail. Today when I got to work I listened to my voice mail and I had received another message from man who identified himself as Mark Abbott Collections Manager. (I have saved this message on my voice mail)

I called him back at the number that he gave me without even requesting the extension (by the way this is their customer service line) and he answered the phone. (How many collections managers answer the customer relations phone? When I identified myself and started to talk to him he said he needed to change lines. ( I was sure that this was an attempt to get me on tape so they could edit our conversation and I would be agreeing to some kind of service) I informed him that any taped conversations without my consent was illegal and that we did not agree to their services nor were we authorized to do so and that we would not be paying for any services that they claimed to be providing.

He then told me that he had a taped conversation confirming that we had ordered this service and he wanted to play it for me. I informed him that I was not interested in listening to it because I knew it was edited and that he was trying to scam me.

I told them not to contact me or call me back. I then hung up on him.

Within a few minutes I received a call from another man who unfortunately I could not remember his name that stated that he was the collections manager. (How many collections managers do they have?) I informed him that I had told them not to call me again so they should not be calling me. He tried to tell me that there had been a misunderstanding that they were a reputable company. I told him that I did not think so and I felt that they were trying to scam us and that I would be following up. I then hung up on him.

This is an e-mail I received from The Department of Justice, Consumer protection unit in Delaware. Maxi Webcenter is a scam that I believe originates in Canada. We have no jurisdiction over them. I suggest you contact your postal inspector if they used the mail to contact you, and/or the Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov. Thank you, Judy Oken Hodas Deputy Attorney General Consumer Protection Unit
