The sun visor on my Mercedes Benz S-500 4matic 2005 model is sagging and it won't hold up. This is a recurring problem on Mercedes Benz S and E class.  Yet, Mercedes Benz is NOT doing anything about it.  I called and e-mailed Mercedes Benz USA to report this problem.

I had a 'manager' call me from Mercedes Benz USA with the following message over the phone: "We are sorry, but your car is out of warranty, and you'd have to take your car into a Mercedes dealership. However, we cannot guarantee that we could offer any help in doing this service for free".

She kept saying "you would need to take your car into a Mercedes Benz dealership". When I told her that there were many comaplaints on-line about this issue and that MB should do a recall or fix it for free becuase it's a factory fault and not the fault of it's custoemrs, she kept repeating the same thing over and over as a parrot:  "I am sorry, but you need to take your car into a Mercedes Benz dealership, we cannot offer assistance in fixing it for free".  Rude and useless! I will never buy a Mercedes Benz car ever again.

Sun visor easy repair

I'd love to take credit for this, but I can't. I also can't remember who I should give credit to. Sorry.

Someone recently posted a way to fix the sun visors if you can't tighten the holder on the little ball enough to keep it from slipping. Take a little piece of leather, pry the bracket on the back of the visor base up enough to slip it in and then tighten it back down again. When I got a sample piece of leather from the place I'll be getting the upholstery for the 75 (I told them I wouldn't be putting leather in it, but they insisted) I tried it. It works beautifully!

My passenger side visor wasn't too bad but it was as tight as it could get without stripping the head of the screw. The driver side was already past that point and the ball was loose and sloppy. I cut a little piece of leatherRipoffreport Report Image, a little wider than the space and long enough to wrap around the ball and go up to the screw adjustment. Tightened it back down and it holds tight, just like it should.

Whoever posted this, feel free to step up and take your applause, it fixed my visors and hopefully it'll fix a few for others, too.
No, this isn't my original idea either.

A warranty details what items are warranteed and for how long.  Why would anyone expect a company to provide warranty service on an eight year old car?  Just how many others have had this "problem" and what difference does that make.

There is NO reason, whatsoever for a recall or a kiss YOUR entitled butt free repair.

I guess you want warranty to apply as long as you own the car...it doesn't work that way..suck it up.

Rude???

How exactly is this rude?? A sunvisor is NOT a recall worthy issue. Second, just because ppl b*tch online doesnt make this a known issue or make it a recall worthy issue. Third, you are attempting to get them to replace a COSMETIC item for FREE!!!! Youre SCAMMING THEM!!!

Its your sunvisor. Its cosmetic. Stop blaming someone else for your financial responsability. MB has no legal need or responsability to replace this for you. Stop being cheap. Stop blaming others for what is your responsability.

Its not being rude to stop you from scamming them. Youre a self-entitled twit. Grow the hell up!! Just because they didnt bend over and take it up the rump just because you do not feel like paying for it. Its not rude to keep you from screwing them. So learn the lesson here, its not being rude, its not poor customer service. You are asking them to replace your sunvisor for free because YOU feel its a recall issue.
