Instead of whining about windows xp force activations in order to use the software, I have to call in to Microsoft to get a key to okay the usage of the software. This basically is good for the consumer in a way. But its a pain in the carcass. Anyways, there are some websites that offers Windows xp as an OEM disc with license. Its always good to obtain a copy that is legal. You can shop at Newegg.com and they will give you a good deal. depends on where you live. I had no problem with windows xp home edition. I am currently using professional. I had no issues what so ever. The difference between the both is XP professional is for mobil computing and most of all business. Home is for casual home users. I have no gripes about the operating system. The year that Microsoft will quit supporting it will be somewhere in late 2016 or something like that. they will be issuing updates for older windows. this is what they claim. I don;t know if its true or not. I am a big fan of xp. Vista, I will have to ask you to do your homework on it. Windows ME, is a shoddy operating system, Instead Try windows 2000 professional. You cannot crash it, its crash proof. The engine of windows xp is 2000 under the hood. This is for stability and reliability. I hoped I helped you out alot here.

The 3 copies you purchased with the computers were what is called OEM license, and any problems will have to be referred to the company you purchased the computers from. The one retail copy you purchased is for use on only ONE computer. You can not legally install that one copy on all four computers at the same time. You can reinstall the OEM copies on your computers. Use the CD that was furnished with the system when you purchased them.

When you buy four computers that come with Windows XP installed you do get four valid licenses. What you seemed to have done was to install your "back-up" copy on two machines using the same CD Key. Each computer should have come with its own CD KEY (or license number). you should have used the two numbers that came with the pre-installed versions. The issue here really was that the CD-KEY is in fact the license and you attempted to use the same license on two machines.
