On 8-10-06 I took my 1997 F150 to Midas on Centeral Ave. in Billings Montana, for a truck service and tune up. There were no problems with the truck prior to this service but my family and I were going on a trip and wanted the truck inspected, which they did and supposedly remedied all required work.
On 8-18-06,206 miles later we were heading on our trip and the truck lost almost all power in Big Timber Montana. We pulled over and inspected the engine and waited several minutes before starting it up and trying to get to Big Timber Ford Service Department.
After several hours of my family, including our two children and our two dogs, being stranded in Big Timber. The diagnosis was that the engine lost compression in three cylinders,it seems three of the new spark plugs fell apart sending bits and pieces of shrapnul into the cylinders. And regardless whether it is Bosch's defective parts or Midas's workmanship, Midas's 90 day warranty on products and workmanship should be enough to remedy this situation
Note: There was also a throttle body disludge (that is not suppose to be done with this model vehicle)that was initially billed but after the fact Midas said it was a billing error.
