Due to my work hours getting cut back lots I got behind on my payment to Canadian Tire MasterCard which had no choice but to contact a colection agency.

A few weeks ago I sent a cheque with "VOID" written on it meaning once the cheque is deposited in the collection agency's bank a certain amount of money would be how much I pay.

However, due to another colelction agency taking more than half my paycheque, to ensure MJR Collections doesn't do the same I wrote at the bottom of the cheque, $25 weekly for Canadian Tire MasterCard.

Thought it would end there. NOPE! Not at all. MJR Collections sent my cheque back to me with a handwritten note on a post-it note that read "we do not accept void cheques." A collection agency that doesn't want money? Can you imagine that? I'm surprised as you are.

So knowing how collection agencies operate, by lying, I knew they'd probably claim I don't want to pay. So what I did I wrote(sending a copy of the void cheque, a copy of MJR's post-it note reply and a copy of the envelope showing the postmark of when MJR sent me that letter. A copy of the letter was sent to Canadian Tire MasterCard in Toronto, to the MasterCard Payment Centre in Quebec, to Trans-Canada Credit Bureau in Hamilton, to the Toronto Sun newsroom and to MJR of course explaining due to MJR not wanting to take my money(ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS PUT MY CHEQUE IN A BANK AND THE BANK WOULD'VE HANDLED IT FROM THERE)I am now paying Canadian Tire MasterCard and NOT paying MJR Collections since MJR doesn't want to take money from me.

The first payment was made yesterday(Canadian Tire won't get it until Tuesday as that's how long it takes to clear online banking I've learned).

Ever since MJR Collections has been calling daily DAILY(no doubt now truing to cover their butt after they refused to deposit the cheque in a bank) leaving messages on my voice-mail and calling leaving messages at work for me. Normally I'd return calls but due to MJR Collections refusing to take money from me I have nothing whatsoever to say to them. All they had to do was deposit the cheque in a bank but MJR DID NOT want to do that.

By MJR Collections constantly phoning that is harassment.

I want MJR Collections to quit calling me effective immediately. What part of "I will be making $25 weekly payment to Canadian Tire MasterCard and not to MJR Collections" does MJR Collections not understand?

As you'll notice in my original report I mention I sent a copy of a letter to MJR and Toronto Sun newsroom(among others). In that letter I said if MJR tries to contact me in any way whatsoever I will contact the media as enough is enough. Few weeks ago 2 messages left on my voicemail by a Mr. Ciccarelli(spelling?)and it's "URGENT" he says. Showing them I mean business I phoned the CBC's The National(on their toll free line) informing them of this complaint about MJR Collections on RipOffReport.com and gave Cicarelli's phone number adding anything he has to say to me he can say on air. I may be wrong though don't think I am, ever since that call to The National MJR Collections has stopped calling me. My payments are going to Canadian Tire MasterCard directly since MJR refused to deposit the cheque in their bank. So to anyone thinking of giving up DON'T! You CAN fight a collection agency. And I thank God for that.
