Ever heard of the Discover You tour? This "company" is a SCAM. I was interested in the modeling podiums at my local mall and asked my mom if I could sign up. Mind that this was in MAY 2016. The slip I filled out said I would get a response in 48 hours. RED FLAG. I waited over 2 weeks to get a response. A woman named Grace (the daughter of the company owner) told me the company was interested in me and gave me an appointment for an interview. When you hear "interview" you think a sit down in an office right? Well, when I went in for said interview I had no clue it was an audition instead. It was impossible to contact Grace prior to the appointment. The mall I often go to had a stage in center court, and there were a lot of people crowding for their audition numbers. Grace never mentioned it was an audition, she said it was an interview.
So, I got my audition number and a little booklet containing their "ABOUT US" and a small section of "commercial" lines to say before you walked the run way. The "judges" (Ashley and Doug are married and run the whole pony show) graded me and I passed. Doug explained in the booklet that if you don't have a professional portfolio that they take your pictures for three installments of $99. RED FLAG. My dad pad the first $99 and I got a white T-shirt with Keep Calm and Model On that I could design. I scheduled the photo time and remebered something important the day after. It was next to IMPOSSIBLE to get ahold of either Ashley or Grace. I woke up early just to get a phone call in with them. I texted them a dozen times trying to reschedule to an earlier time, and it took me FOUR HOURS to finally get a response.
I was able to change the times and go in for my photoshoot. My mom paid the other $200 dollars for the pictures and got an extra 45 pictures for paying early. After the photoshoot I was given a date and time for the show. June 19th at 5pm. Now June 19th 2016 is a day my dad was hoping to spen with my sisters and I because it was FATHER'S DAY. Not only was the show date a complete inconvience, I was only given a week to get my shirt designed and my talent put together. The talent portion would only last 45 seconds, as per what the small booklet entaled.
I spent three days coming up with an orginal design for my T-shirt and practicing every day for the talent part. On June 19th My mom took me to the show to sign in. The mall was crowded in center court with parents signing in their toddlers and teens. When my mother and I got my pictures that cost $300 you'd think you would get hard copy photos. Wrong. They give you a CD with the pictures. For THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS. they asked for my email so they could let me know in about two weeks if I got the contract. DON'T. The wait time to just get the talent part done was insane and for only 45 seconds you had to prove to the agency that you were good enough.
After the show was over I went home feeling accomplished and giddy with excitement. I checked my email regularly for an email from them. Nothing after the two weeks. I took into account that there were a lot of models on that Sunday, so I kept an eye on my email after that. It has now been a whold MONTH since that show and I have gotten NO RESPONSE. These people are scammers to say the least. At least a rejection email or a notice would have been nice, or at least something. My family was cheated out of $300 dollars so I could become a model.
The other day I tried calling Ashley (the wife) and it went to voice mail. The phone rang through so I know the phone was connected to some kind of plan.
on July 18th 2016 I went to google to get some more information on this comapny and came across this website about being scammed. I looked at the official website for this company and the DISCOVERYOUTOUR website. SAME EXACT pictures were used on both websites.
Doug, Ashley, and Grace (and the rest of the family are listed on a different report) are all related, and all are scamming us!
DON'T SIGN UP FOR THE DISCOVER YOU TOUR!!!! IT'S A SCAM! DO YOUR RESEARCH AND STAY SAFE!!
