Monterey Financial is the collection company for E-penzio and others. Let me share what they did to me.

I pay $90 per month to Monterey for charges to E-penzio for a credit card terminal processing system. I lost my job a while back and got behind on payments. I worked with Chris in collections who was always very rude, and have been getting it caught up. At the end of last month I worked with Chris and he said that I owed two payments of $156.65. I paid one of those on the first, and set the second one up for the 16th.

Shortly thereafter I was glad to hear that Chris was no longer with the company and that Ashley was taking over collections. Ashley has been a pleasure to work with. However, I spoke with her earlier this month and she confirmed that I owed the two payments of $156.65. I called Ashley this morning because I had not seen the second payment come out, and she said it was drafted a few days ago and thought it would hit my account today. She again confirmed that I was caught up with payments.

I called in about 20 minutes ago and spoke with Maria because I wanted to change my due date to the 15th. She took a $5 fee for that, then said that my account showed $15.50 past due. I questioned that, so she had Ashley call me back. Ashley called and said that it was a miscalculation and it didn't show up this morning because their computers are not up-to-date enough to show that. I did not agree with that, so she said that she would talk to a supervisor.

She came back a few minutes later and said that it would not be refunded. I disagreed with her, so she transferred me to Dan. I want you to know that compared to Dan, Chris was a pleasure to talk to. Dan was one of the rudest people I have ever spoken with. He cuts people off in mid-sentence, is patronizing, and is just generally very rude. I told him that I didn't agree with the late fee, and he was really rude about it.

I told him that they could go ahead and take the money out next month with my payment, but that I did not agree with it and would be filing a report with RipOffReport.com. Again, he was very rude, saying Oh, you go ahead and do that. They sound really credible. I finally hung up on him because he is so rude. He seems to have forgotten that it is because of the customer that he has a job. I agree that I was late, but two of their employees told me that I would be up to date. Even if Dan wasn't going to refund the money, he at least could learn to be polite to customers on the phone.

Maybe they will start to see them as credible.
