You were in no way ripped off. It was your responsibility to keep track of the activation code for your software. You chose to lose it, how does the company know that yuo aren't trying to rip them off by getting a second activation code?

This is 100% your fault. You lost the activation code and then claim you were ripped off? Fascinating. As to the software being buggy, does your computer meet the minimum requirements on the box? Did you even check? Doubtful. Older computers frequently don't have the horsepower to run newer software. The moral of the story: Pay attention.
