This is a warning mostly to people who plan to do business with, invest in, or work with Mplissit and Steve Be:

Mpliss.it touts itself on as "a diversified collective agency".  In reality, it is a "start-up" with a vague artist management/ tech company like mission that has become a vehicle for it's owner Steve Be to collect "investment capital" from unwitting investors that he uses to live on.

NOTE:  Steve Be also uses the aliases: EB Be, EB Suffit, Etienne, Mister EB. His legal names are/ have been: Steve Be, Steve Dechene and Steve Dechene Broner and Steven Dechene Broner.

(He will likely change his name and start a new company name as soon as the internet gets wind of this post.)

MPlissit is one of many businesses that conman and grifter Steve Dechene Broner has started that he has done nothing with. Some of the other failed businesses he created and taken money from are:

  • Studio BE
  • Roombird LLC
  • Seven Seas Music
  • Webonize
  • See.me / See Me
  • Central-B

When EB/ Steve started Mplissit, he used his then girlfriend's name and money to start the business.  Mplissit is in both of their names, but she has nothing to do with the venture anymore.  He has managed to ruin her credit with the debt he is given the company.

He has since met "potential partners" and "board members" for his company (all of which are Asian women) to work with him.  This is part of a pattern he has of charming women to work with him, entangling them in romance/ work relationships, and getting them to invest thousands of dollars in his businesses that he will not repay.  Many of the Asian women he befriends for his business, he meets in social media groups.

This blog from "Sociopaths to Avoid" in 2015 that chronicles the past patterns of Steve Dechene Broner's con man ways .

Below is a list of tactics/ red flags he uses to build up his fake company:

  • Website was not even built until last week under the excuse of “work in progress” or “we’re now ready to be public”.

  • Website offers the vague description that they are “a diversified collective agency”.

  • The website contains no information on staff, location, or the artists they work with.  There is only an “844” phone number but no email contact.

  • Does not have an investor deck about what his company is, yet claims to already have investors.

  • He often boasts artists on social media who he does not have working relationships with but wants to give the impression that he works with. Some of these artists include Estelle and Pryce.

  • He also lies that he is working with artists.  Specifically if he knows you don’t have a way to fact check if he is or not, he will claim to be doing “strategic work” or “funding structure” work with them. (We have proof in conversations logs with artists who claim to not know who he is)

  • Will claim that people who have not agreed to partner or invest with with him are working for his company.

  • He has offered artists support from his company in the form of paying for travel blogging and video, paying cross-country travel and housing to perform for 7 minutes at a comedy show.  No proof of engagements provided.

  • He will name drop names of contacts he barely has in order to “leapfrog” and gain trust of other potential investors or partners.  In some cases, he has name dropped the names of artists that have no idea who he is, in order to gain the trust of investors.  This is verifiable.

  • There is no visible roster of artists that he works with, not a visible list of partners and investors.  Yet he will claim they exist.

  • He claims to be paid quarterly for his work in the company (which he says to excuse the sudden low drops in his liquid assets).  He won’t name his other investors, but refers to his partner as “she” (very likely this is an ex or girlfriend he is borrowing money from).

  • He may claim to have a broken computer, or cell phone cannot send or receive text messages.

  • He uses apps like Slack and insists on phone conversations (under the premise to send a clearer wave of communication), instead what he is doing is purposely reducing the amount of archivable logs and EVIDENCE that can be used against him later.

  • Name drops that he uses an office space called “Regus” which is actually a co-working space with locations around the world. (Not verified if he is actually using a space there or if he just name dropped it to sound more legitimate).

  • His Instagram/ Twitter/ Facebook feature artists that he does not represent but is attempting to create the illusion of affiliation.  Some do not know who he is.  His Instagram features a lot of pictures of buildings or organizations that he alludes to scouting or working with.  He is not.  He is just posting pictures of buildings and organizations.

  • Changes his phone number every few months, as well as his internet presence so that it is impossible to track him down.  It's also impossible to do a reverse search on any of his numbers.

  • Will offer artists "gigs" that are actually just open mics.

Strategies He Uses to Manipulate:

  • Seems kind and charming at first but this is a front; Good at faking empathy even though he has none.

  • Showing off wealth to you he doesn’t really have (stolen money from people or companies).

  • Feminist/ Activist Language; Using it to gain trust of women he engages for his work, (then emotionally and/or financially abuse them).

  • Says “Money is bullsh*” (So bullsh* that he lies to people and scam people for money).

  • Tells you “personal” stories, sometimes with the line of “I don’t tell anyone else this but this is what happened to me” to make you think he trusts you and/or that you two have closer relationship now.

  • Asking many questions including what you think about variety of things and personal questions and make you open up to you in your vulnerability; Any information about your past history/current problem/insecurity/etc would be used against you.

  • “What if you not putting yourself first is hurting me?” Pretends to care about you.

  • Says “Protect Your Heart”.

  • Uses large words and complex vocabulary to sound educated and intelligent but also to confuse you what he means sometimes.

Do yourself a favor and do not go into business with this sociopath.  And especially, do not let him represent you if you are an artist!
