Mr. Auto Sales, located at 36190 Vine Street, Eastlake, OH 44095, fits the comic, used car stereo type of classic, “snake oil” sales people, who have one hand patting you on the back and the other hand reaching into your back pocket where you keep your wallet! Used car buyers, beware of these people for they will tell you whatever you want to hear in order to sell you a car, regardless of the condition it is in! I’m a disabled vet and a member of the Spring Hill VFW here in Spring Hill, Florida, and saw a car on the internet at this dealership I was interested in. Called the dealership, ended up buying the car and having it shipped to Florida, trusting implicitly in the integrity of their sales people at this dealership regarding the condition of this car. The photos looked fine and I thought I was getting a great deal. The car arrived here in Florida and looked wonderful, but when I took it to the local Cadillac dealer in Homosassa, FL to have a few minor items serviced, and they put the car up on a hoist,
they were appalled at what they found; the car has so much rust on the underside and frame that they called me back into the service bay to see for myself. Brake lines, fuel line, everything that’s critical to the safety of this vehicle operating on the highway was emaciated in so much corrosion that the slightest tampering with the underside of the car might cause a leak or crumble and break off. They cautioned me not to attempt to even drive this car on an extended trip, fearing the car is so near having an issue on the highway that it might be life threatening or at the very least, leave me stranded. When I phoned Mr. Auto to see if they would be willing to take the car back or offer compensation to me for miss-representing this car as a safe, reliable used car worthy of resale, Bruno, the owner of Mr. Auto, responded negatively, and told me, “You got a good deal and I’ll see you in court.” I’m out $6400 now, $4900 for the car, plus the cost in shipping the car from Ohio to Florida, and this will go down for me as the greatest loss for me in my car buying history, and serve as a very hard lesson not to trust in the honesty of used car sales people… at least not those at Mr. Auto Sales in Eastlake, OH.
