My husband called to have $139.00 charge from Simple Escapes removed from our credit card. I had forwarded him these reports at work, and when he pressed the Simple Escapes "agent" he was told they bought the credit card numbers for AOL. I was shocked that they admitted it, but he and I both saw reports that claimed it was true. When he asked them outright, they admitted it! I have copies of all of this to my local television station. I hope they will follow up and inform people. I am sending a note to all of my AOL friends tonight. I can't say with absolute certainty, of course, that any of this information is true, but it does seem strange that I haven't seen any online company but AOL listed in these reports, and my husbands credit card has never been used online except for AOL billing. We use my credit cards for all online purchases. We should all call AOL and let them know what we have heard. I plan to call and have it out with Customer Service tomorrow.
