I also am a SBC customer and this month I received a bill and was charged 13.34 extra for total protection plus voicemail that I supposedly had. I contacted SBC and told them I was wondering why they were charging me for a service I did not even authorize to have. He said that a separate company called Total Enhanced Services charges that. My main complaint was I did not authorize for this service to be part of my account. He said this had happened to several people. They were very nice about it and gave me the phone number to the company I needed to talk with and they told me I did not have to pay that amount and they would write in my account that there was a claim pending. I contacted this company and they told me it was removed and that next month there probably was going to be a charge but that I did not have to pay for it and they gave me a confirmation number that this was taken care of. I do not know why they do this. I did not even ask for their services. I only hope everybody checks their monthly statements throughly and make sure everything is charged correctly and if not call the company and make sure they take off the amount they are charging you. They just want to take your money!!
