Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Two attempts at vintage watch repair and restoration. Mailed and remailed watch to the business. Watch works however no new crystal as he stated, no new watch hands as he stated. With first repair effort, he "forgot" to install hands and crystal. Second repair effort he "forgot" to send the replaced parts. He said, "Maybe I damaged the crystal when I installed it." "Yeah, right!" Cost $410.00.

Asked for $80.00 refund of the cost for the crystal and hands and I was given $15.00 after I told him I was going to mail my watch to a watch craftsman. He said, "Here is $15.00 to help with shipping to the other person." "Thanks Bob!"

He did however include a watch band at no charge. An old twist-o-flex that was filthy and needed a thorough cleaning before wearing. He did install it on the watch and got mad when I didn't appreciate the band and mentioned that it was dirty. He did wantme to return the watch a third time. You bet, "Third time is a charm."

Ok, let me get this straight! "Didn't do what you said you would do. I didn't get what I paid for and when I asked for compensation you got mad that I didn't mention the free dirty watch band!" "Go figure!"

This guy is an unskilled hobbyist at the least. Watch out! (interesting he calls himself a "hobbyist" on his website). He is no professional. He has a nice website and talks a good game.

Here is his warranty stated by himself on his website."Is there a written repair warranty? If you ask for one I will gladly provide it without question. It is easy to know where you stand after an Accutron repair has been performed by me. There isn't a better quarantee available."

Priceless!!!

Watch repair: $410.00. Refund when work is not completed: $15.00. Lesson learned: Priceless!

Great Repair Job Thanks Bob

I'm new to this. I was born at night but not last night so let me just say this. I needed a repair for my Accutron '214' never expectijg such a 'runnaround' and secretive manouvering by several 'repair' shops who would not quote firm cost peramiters. The few that did were astronomical so I was leary.

I continued to search and found Bob Piker's site. I emailed him and received a quick reply and a straight forward price policy. Hundreds less than the 'others'. I sent of my watch and received a reply when it was received. It took a reasonable amouhnt of time to 'turn it around and the watch arrived, along with the replaced part although I do not recall being told that it needed a part and there was no 'extra' charge.

The watch sits in front of me, keeping perfect time. I don't have a complaint only praise for Bob; you can quote me.

Bob continues to defend his incompetent position by "creating proof" with his computer. If he refunded the money why would he do that in two transactions? He told me on the phone he would not refund the $80 and then he has a change of heart! Right! Or he says by that time he had already refunded it! Then he sent an additional $15 to help me send my watch to another person. When did he not be truthful? On the phone or in response to the complaint? Bob, got his hand caught in the cookie jar and tried to say it wasn't there. Childish.

No matter! I still didn't get what I paid for. No matter what he says, he botched this repair twice and wanted a third attempt. First time he "forgot". This professional who repairs thousands of watches doesn't know what he is doing. If he is as efficent as he said why keep forgetting? Never returns used parts because I believe there are none. I got a battery and the watch cleaned with jewerly wipes. Never sends invoices that way you have no idea what he does. "I had to replace

sundry parts." Yeah right!

He keeps putting a spin on the real problem (watch repair)  by referring to the refunds. If he would have been the craftsman that he said he was; if he would have repaired the watch right the first time we wouldn't be having this conversation. Send your watch to him and if he doesn't forget he will repair it and send it back. Keep paying postage or send it to a real craftsman not an unskilled hobbyist. And by the way, a true professional would not keep the name calling. It just shows his immaturity.

Grow up Bob.

Here's proof Old Charlie is a liar.

You are a liar, Old Charlie, and here's the proof. You did get what you paid for no matter how many time you claim I didn't refund you your $80 for the hands and crystal. Either you don't know how to read or by admitting it you realize you've shot yourself in the foot. Paypal says you got $80 for the hands and crystal from me, and that I sent you an additional $15 after that. Go figure.

Once again, Old Charlie is not tellin the truth.

Old Charlie is repeating himself. He's not telling the truth because I refunded him $80 for the crystal and hands he wasn't satisfied with and then I sent another $15 just as an apology so that he could send his watch to someone else for a new crystal and hands he would be satisfied with. Why doesn't he mention that he received the $80 refund? Well, then his complaint would have no merit. He doesn't want anyone to know the real truth. He wants to try and tear down a watch repairer who is definitely more than a hobbiest having well over 1,000 repairs under my belt from every state in the U.S. and many countries from around the world. He seems to enjoy the feeling he gets by not telling the truth. I wouldn't be able to look at mysel in the mirror if I behaved the way Old Charlie is behaving. Evidently, it doesn't bother him a bit to know that the $325 he spent after I refunded $85 gave him exactly what he has paid for...a $225 service and repair, a $50 coil replacement as he had one that was bad, and $15 for return priority insured shipping, and another $20 for other sundry missing parts from whomever had worked on his watch in the past. He even admits that his watch is keepin good time after I serviced it. Sure is hard to please a person who got what he paid for and is still unhappy. Go figure.

Do you want the real truth?

Old Charlie doesn't have his facts straight. Not only did I give him a full refund of $80 for the portion of service he was unhappy with, but I sent him another $15 afterward so that he could use it to send his watch to another person. And I did that before he reported me on this site. Evidently, the liar wanted even more. Talk about being long in the tooth.

Old Charlie neglected to mention his real refund in his report. Also, he forgot to say that he asked me for an old twistoflex band to be installed on his watch. I told him I would go through my old parts and find the best one I had and put it on his watch for free. I know how much old-timers like their twistoflex bands so I put it on in good faith that he would appreciate it. He didn't, though, because he said, "When I give a gift I make sure it is clean. You didn't even clean the band." Wow! Now that's gratitude. The addage no good deed goes unpunished most definitely applies to Old Charlie.

He didn't mention either that I performed a case restoration for him at no charge, too, as an apology for forgetting to install a new crystal the first time he sent it to me. I usually get $100 for that but I did it for free because I felt bad about forgetting his new crystal the first time. He didn't even thank me for that but instead clamed it didn't meet with his expectations so he didn't appreciate it. Old Charlie's expectations, evidently, are just too high to be met. I offered him a full refund for all work, too, if he would send his watch back a third time so that I could undo all that I had to his watch so that he could have it in the same condition it was before we got started. He declined, though, because he admited that it was keeping excellent time after I serviced it.

In the end, it's obvious that Old Charlie simply wanted to get some of his money back now that he had a working watch and deliberately set out to tarnish my reputation in order to justify his lie to get an $80 refund. I only hope whoever he sends his next watch to for repair reads this beforehand because they can do themselves a favor and avoid him at all costs.

Best regards, Bob
