I am a Income Tax Professional. I need to buy software every year.  I have been using software from TaxAct since 1999.  I decided this year maybe I should try something different.  I was contacted by a representative of Mytaxprepsoftware.com.  I had not contacted them previously.  The salesman told me that I could purchase their product for $400.00. Seemed likea fair deal I had to provide credit card info at that time. I did not expect to be charged until I received the software. However they charged my card immediately. I was able to download the 2016 software to try out. I actually filed a return with the software and it did not print properly. At this point I requested a refund of my money. This was in September. I did not have the product I purchased in hand. The first copy of the program was to be released in November. The final version would not be ready until January of 2018. So I paid $400.00 for a program that I had not received delivery. Because the program was poorly writen and difficult to use I need not want to purchase and asked for a refund. They flat out told me that they have a 14 day refund policy, which they did not tell me at time of purchase. Not 14 days from receipt of the product but 14 days after you pay. There inlies the problem. Clearly this is a scam. As a tax pro I can not have software that is clumsey to use and inaccuate in its computations.

I absolutely did not receive what I paid for-I had purchased software for tax preperation of 2017 taxes.  This software is not available until January of 2018.  A final version cannot be assymbled until all tax law updates are known.  I was able to have a demo package after purchase that was for the 2016 season.  I accutually prepared one tax return.  It printed it out incorrectly even though it desplayed correctly on screen.  This has caused my client and myself many problems.  At that point I decided that I didn't want anything to do with their product.  So as stated before I called and cancelled my order.  I certainly did not expect to meet with such resistance to my request for a refund.  I have prepared taxes for many years and have used at least 3 other Tax Prep software companies and in all those instances my credit card was not charged until the delivery of the product.  MyTaxPrepOffice.com clearly is running a scam.  I encourage anyone considering purchasing tax prep software to bypass this outfit.

MyTAXPrepOffice has been cooperating with this reviewer since he purchased the product on June 23, 2017. He requested a refund more than 3 months later which is far beyond the agreed upon 14-day refund period.

The reviewer has tried to misconstrue how the software is delivered by stating he did not have the product purchased in hand, when in reality he was given immediate access as soon as his purchase was complete. He used the software successfully multiple times and did not contact support for help with any printing issues.

The software that was made available to the reviewer upon purchase is the same version that he can use during the 2017 tax season. As the IRS makes updates to the tax forms available during the second half of the year, the corresponding tax forms get updated in line with the latest IRS releases. This does not constitute different software versions. The reviewer confuses his experience with his previous software vendor who used to ship different versions which according to their website, they shipped new versions in January. This is not information originating from MyTAXPrepOffice.

We offered multiple training opportunities to this reviewer so he could better understand the software. Instead of accepting the training or support opportunities, he demanded a refund well beyond his contractual agreement. As a courtesy, we offered to put his 2017 software license on hold if he felt he did not have time to learn it. We would allow him to transfer his license over to our 2018 software package at no additional cost.

He was not satisfied with our offer and threatened us with legal action if we did not refund his money. Since we could see neither legal nor moral justification for his claim, we still denied his refund request. He filed a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. We fully cooperated with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, but obviously the reviewer did not get the answer he wanted to hear from this institution.

The reviewer has now resorted to leaving a bad review as a way to try to take away from our excellent reputation even though his refund request was not legally founded and unreasonable. We have offered several solutions and cooperated with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. We have done everything in our power to try and resolve this issue and regret that we cannot come to a solution that satisfies the reviewer.

Sincerely,

The MyTAXPrepOfffice Management Team
