Update: Quotes from Kevin the Ops Manager "At the end of the day, I go home to my things and you don't. So who has the problem? You or me." That is who these people are, unscrupulous, uncaring and mercenary. Please do yourself a favor, don't choose any company associated with them to do your move. We have more than $10k in damage to our things. They folded our brand new king size mattress like a pretzel, they left all of our things in a storage unit uncovered and unprotected. I urge everyone who has been duped by the company to contact the following: Moverescue.org Colorado/California Attorneys General Colorado/California Regulatory Agencies Federal Motor Carrier Saftey Bureau Better Business Bureau in California/Colorado Local media Colorado/California If I could give less than one star, I would. This company employs every shady low-life practice that makes us all hate moving companies. They misrepresent themselves as a completely self-contained moving company, they are not. They broker loads to "contract" trucking firms. Their sales people promise you the agreement you sign is binding, it is not. Red flag warning, if a moving company does not charge by weight or is unwilling to do an in home estimate (National Moving Systems does neither), then you are being set up. The sales people under price every shipment, only to have the driver/foreman show up at your home on move day to tell you to pay more money. Your nightmare really begins when you try to schedule delivery. Our sales person told us, no problem getting your delivery in 2 weeks time. Red flag number 2 We scheduled a delivery for July 7th, carefully explaining to the dispatchers Lupe and Jessica we live in an apartment in the middle of a major city. We explained the driver would have to use street parking and an elevator to access our home. Two days before the delivery was to occur we get an email advising us, the delivery is not going to happen. Email, no phone call, no new ETA, just sorry we can't accommodate you. After raising all kinds of ruckus, we get rescheduled for a 10 day delivery window. Thats right folks, 10 days with 24 hour notice to be ready to accept your things. Having lived without our belongings for sometime, we accepted our fate, patiently awaiting delivery of our merchandise. The final straw! Delivery day arrives, yipee...not so fast. Truck driver shows up and says, I will not unload your things unless you pay me $500 more than what you owe. That was the last and final straw with these people. I and my partner went BALLISTIC. We called the police. At which point the driver then pretended to try to unload our things. Said that he could not park his truck on the street safely and left with our belongings. Repeated attempts to reach National Moving Systems "dispatch" went unanswered, as they are only available 9AM - 6PM PST. They did not return our calls. We had to call them, at which point they began to lie. They stated we threw things at the drivers, we laid down on the street in front of the truck to prevent the driver from leaving and we called the police on them. The dispatch supervisor continued to "spin" the story to make it sound like we were the antagonist. Repeated attempts to get them to redeliver our belongings were met with the following response: "Your belongings are in storage, we will give you the key to the storage unit when you make the final payment and you are then free to go pick up you belongings." At this point I requested to speak with her supervisor, her response "I will put your complaint on my supervisor's board, be advised it will be several WEEKS before he is able to respond." That was two days ago, we have had no communication with them since that time. We have had to involve attorneys and mediators to try and retrieve our belongings. This company is unscrupulous, unethical and unresponsive. Do yourself a favor, use a reputable company for you move.
