Called several companies about moving from Orlando,Florida to Cincinnati,Ohio. After checking most of the companies out with the Better Business Breau and several other sites found pretty much the same thing for all companies. All had very negative reviews, however I still went with Nationwide Moving & Storage, Miami, Florida because of price. WRONG!
i was quoted a price and pick-up date, which I agreed to. Called to let the storage unit know of pick-zip date and time. The driver called the night before to confirm they would be there by noon as scheduled. They were a no show, no call. Called Dan the manager and he said they were caught in traffic and could not make it. He offered to take $200.00 off bill and told me they could reschedule later that week, I agreed, stupid mistake.
They finally did pick-up the furniture and I again confirmed the delivery date, making sure it was Saturday, since I work out of town and would not be there for delivery any other day, and they confirmed it to be Saturday. On Thursday I get a call stating they were in Cincinnati and would be delivering my furniture. I explained to the driver I was out of town and could not be there until Saturday as planned. He said he would have to call his dispatcher and see if that was ok. Received a call from the dispatcher and he told me that they would have to store my furniture and it would cost $1500.00 dollars plus a redelivery charge of $2200.00. I explained my contract and he said if I want my furniture that is what is going to happen. I then called Dan the manager I had been speaking with and he said there was nothing he could do, even though the contract plainly stated Saturday delivery date. I ended up catching a flight back to Cincinnati, costing me $473.00 for delivery of furniture the next morning.
The driver knocked on my door and asked if I was ready for delivery, and I said yes, and asked where was the truck, he said he would be back in 15 minutes. Wow, this scared the hell out of me, but sure enough 15 minutes later I see a truck Summit Moving and Storage out in front of my home. When I questioned him that I had paid Nationwide Moving and Storage, and they assured me they would be the actual movers, he said they were a division of Nationwide. When they opened up the truck it was packed full, and furniture and boxes everywhere. To say the least furniture was scratched, and damaged. The so called packing I paid extra for well it was packed alright using old boxes and my sheets and towels for packing. The head mover was as rude as hell, and was hard to understand. I just wanted them to place the furniture and leave. They did not even attach the mirrors to the dressers, said they lost the screws.
After checking all boxes I found a lot of items missing, and when I called they said I signed that everything was delivered. I have called the local Attorney Generals Office and filed a complaint. Not sure what I will get but wanted other people to know about this company. A wod of advice pay the extra money and get a reputable company to move you.
